Wild elephants in Khao Yai National Park

The drama of the six drowned young elephants that ended up in the waterfall Haew Narok (Khao Yai) was even world news. Fortunately, there is now also something positive to report. A female elephant and her calf managed to free themselves.

The park rangers called to rescue them did not have to act. They followed the pair to make sure they returned safely to the park. However, the park rangers have to recover the dead elephants that died after they fell into the waterfall.

They want to prevent the carcasses from drifting to the Khun Dan Prakan Chon water reservoir in Nakhon Nayok because this can cause water pollution. The plan is to catch the dead elephants with large nets and use equipment to get them out of the water. The animals will then be buried.
