Thailand wants to change visa rules to stimulate tourism
Thailand wants to provide multiple entry visas for tourists of all nationalities in order to promote tourism.
Tourism Minister Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul said Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has given the green light to the proposal, which is expected to be swiftly approved by the cabinet.
Currently, citizens of 40 countries can enter Thailand visa-free, while visitors from other countries must pay 1.000 baht for a single-entry, 30-day visa. Kobkarn wants a new visa to be issued that gives the right to multiple entries into Thailand, as is also applied by many other countries. Such a visa will cost 5,000 baht.

It seems to me that the aim is to fill the state coffers rather than to promote tourism.
positive action, however, the fact that the price must immediately be increased fivefold seems to me to be a case of “milking the farang” to raise money. But yes, the submarines have to be paid for somehow after all. I am not surprised that such picking behavior can lead to a quick political decision.
That would be very nice, because we are coming to Thailand on December 30, 2015 and then we will make a cruise from Bangkok on January 25, 2016 and will arrive in Bangkok again on February 8, where we will stay for 46 days.
So a total of 88 days, but unfortunately I can't read anywhere which visa we need for Thailand.
I would very much like a comment on this.
kind regards Ellie
You only need a visa for the days after February 8

Dear Elly,
Do you visit other countries during that cruise?
If not and you are over 50, you can request a non-immigrant “O” Single entry. This allows you to stay in Thailand for 90 days.
If you are younger than 50, you can apply for a Tourist visa. This allows you to stay in Thailand for 60 days, but you can extend it by 30 days. This also brings you to 90 days.
Perhaps an unattainable wish from me, but it would be good if other arrangements were made for an extension of a Visa. If every long-time tourist or expat could register for an extension at the local Amphur, for example, this would be a huge improvement. This saves you a time-consuming visa run, which is often also associated with extra money, and you also do not have to worry about the online extension, which often does not function.
so to read just a 30 day entry on arrival that may be extended later on the return arrival in Bangkok by 30 days in total, therefore 90 days.
terrible to squeeze tourists who are already being milked anyway. Doomed to fail. Stupid move they should make it free to lure more FARANG. Because now it's practically only running around Chinese who are the so-called tourists. If you currently see Pattaya……..
The falang cow will soon be grazing on the rice fields of Vietnam and Cambodia… 5000 b Crazy amount again! Otherwise a good idea.
You know how the Thai think, don't you? When it is less busy with tourists and less money is earned as a result, they change the law and/or raise the prices, so that the earnings remain the same.
