On Monday evening, a small bomb exploded in front of the National Theater at Sanam Luang. Two women were slightly injured, the damage was minimal.

At first, the police thought it was an old PVC pipe that had exploded.

The attack resembles that of April 5 for the Government Lottery Office (GLO) in which an IC timer was also used. Two people were also injured in the explosion. This explosive was linked to the bomb that exploded in front of Major Cineplex Ratchayothin in 2007.

Monday's bomb was considerably smaller than the explosive of April 5, so hardly any remains have been found. A source describes the maker of the bomb as "a specialist" because they did not want to cause deaths.

Deputy Prime Minister Prawit said yesterday that the security services have been ordered to take measures to increase security and inspect surveillance cameras in public areas. It is assumed that certain groups want to protest with this type of attacks against the third anniversary of the junta on May 22. “They want to discredit the government and cause unrest,” Prawit said.

Prawit has been instructed by Prime Minister Prayut to speed up the investigation and arrest the perpetrators.

On Samui I saw that they have started checking cars again at the Big C and Makro, by means of a mirror they look under the cars. I don't know if this is because of this bomb explosion.
