With the weapons and military equipment confiscated in the past month, World War III could easily – let me exaggerate – be won. The impressive amount was displayed yesterday at the headquarters of the First Army Corps in Bangkok to the domestic and foreign press and military attachés of eleven countries.

A small inventory: 144 rifles and machine guns, 258 shotguns, 2.490 sidearms, 50.000 rounds of ammunition, 166 M79 grenades, 426 body armor, and RPG, M79, and grenade launchers (no number). The weapons on display represented only a quarter of all weapons seized, said Thirachai Nakwanich, head of the 1st Army Region, who hosted the event.

The weapons were found by the First and Second Army Corps when searching numerous targets, at checkpoints or voluntarily surrendered. Some guns had been dumped.

Many were found during an operation to arrest members of a group in Khon Kaen who were planning to form an armed movement with the aim of provoking violent incidents. The newspaper refers to the movement as 'Khon Kaen model'.

The weapons seized elsewhere in the country by the Second, Third and Fourth Army Corps are displayed in the respective regions.

Weapons belonging to both the red shirts and the anti-government movement PDRC have been confiscated. During the briefing in Bangkok, no distinction was made "because the emphasis is on reconciliation," said NCPO spokesman Winthai Suvaree. "These weapons would be used by cruel people to harm others."

Weapons have also been shown to the press in southern Thailand. That happened in the Army Club of the Fourth Army Corps in Vajiravudh (Nakhon Si Thammarat). There, the harvest consisted of 21 rifles, 150 shotguns, 339 handguns, 13 hand grenades and 4.502 rounds of ammunition. They had been seized in the fourteen southern provinces from armed groups and "influential" persons involved in underworld affairs.

Nice show from the Thai authorities, don't believe it.
I think they just want to polish up their image after the damning report regarding, among other things, “exploitation of foreign workers and human trafficking”.
By the way, the description of “where and how” the weapons were found and seized is quite chaotic.
    Regards.

Just stick your head in the sand. The military did the only right thing to prevent further bloodshed.

It should be clear that the decision on May 22 was the right one for the citizens of Thailand!
As written by Dick, this had colored the streets of Bangkok red, similar to a war! Personally, I see good prospects through the Junta'
Everything is handled thoroughly, and no one is spared.
Thailand was therefore not a democracy but the land of robbery, stealing and corruption!
Wrong people and especially wrong grasping politicians'
Who can then be against the fact that the Junta has intervened?
Who wants to go back to the situation before May 22?
You will almost say that you should be afraid that there will soon be public elections again.
Politics, we know what they are capable of.

      Totally agree.
Am happy with the Junta at the moment.

Yes, I also believe that if the army had not intervened in time, we would now be in a very large civil war, given the large quantities of heavy weapons that they have found and may still find. After all, those devices are not for shooting at the sparrows!

Not strange at all in Hua Hin they are on the market with all kinds of weapons, as a tourist I get a bad feeling about that.

That something was very wrong in Thailand, we all know that, I know very little about politics, but think that the military is on the right track to recover the country a bit from the political chaos and am very happy that they have these weapons We all know, guns in the wrong hands can cause a lot of suffering.

    Finally, after a month….
I was already worried, because with all previous coups the show of seized weapons was always exactly one week after the coup (probably in the script).

This is just the beginning of the mountain of weapons.
2000 armed (Red) supporters would leave for Bangkok.
So the ball is rolling, and far from stopped'
As written, this is just the beginning.
