With the images of the bomb attack still fresh in the memory, it was quite a shock at the Erawan shrine in Bangkok last night, when a car drove into the fence there. Fortunately, it was not an attack, but an accident.

On August 17, 2015, the famous Hindu statue at the busy Ratchaprasong intersection was hit by a bomb attack perpetrated by Uighurs. That cost the lives of 20 people, 125 were injured.

Yesterday's incident was probably the result of an epileptic seizure by the driver. Six people were injured. A 21-year-old tourist from Vietnam initially thought it was a car bomb.

Police confirmed it was an accident and not malicious intent.
