Secretary of State Pailin does not agree with the plan of the operator of the Airport Rail Link, the SRT Electric Train Co (SRTET), to buy seven new trains. The Airport Rail Link is a light rail connection in Bangkok between Phaya Thai and Suvarnabhumi Airport.

The plan to connect Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang and U-Tapao has been given a higher priority. This is remarkable because, after complaints about overcrowded trains and malfunctions, he wanted the trains to be purchased quickly. Now he says that a postponement is desirable because it is not clear what type of trains the SRTET should buy in view of the expansion plans to other airports.

To reduce the crowds in the morning rush hour, SRTET has been instructed to start the timetable earlier. The trains will now run at 5.30:6.00 am instead of the current XNUMX:XNUMX am. Extra seats will be provided in wagons with space for luggage.

“The trains will now run at 5.30 am instead of the current 6.00 am. There will be extra seats in baggage cars.”

Will that half an hour reduce the disturbances?
And I've never seen baggage cars on the Airport Rail Link?
An Airport Rail Link has to be very reliable, because if this causes multiple failures, more and more people will NOT use it anymore.
This is again a typical Thai policy.

      Yes, often full trains. Logically.

      Great line. Smooth and cheap.

      Good management.

Sometimes mistakes? Yes, that too. Is part of success.

And let the first one who never does anything wrong stand up…………

I am very happy to go 20 minutes in this Airport Link, then otherwise 2 to 3 hours in a taxi during rush hour with all the annoyances that entails.

      But everyone has their taste.

Yes, you can only spend your money once, even in Thailand. A connection from Don Mueang to Suvarnabhumi also seems urgently needed. Infrastructure in mega cities will always require investment. It is indeed busy in the Airport Rail Link, but so far not at the expense of reliability for me personally. On other connections at some times you sometimes have to wait a few minutes if a train is full, fortunately I have not yet experienced that at the Airport Rail Link.

Then you've been lucky. Especially during rush hour there are long queues waiting for the next train. And in response to an earlier other response, I did see those baggage cars; that's a whole train set full of air.

Connecting a few wagons wouldn't hurt either.
There are often hundreds of people waiting and then they have
two or three wagons coupled to the rear.
