An extremely violent gold robbery last night at a shopping center in Lop Buri shocked public opinion in Thailand. The perpetrator shot dead 3 people without cause, including a woman and a child. Four others were injured. Thai police are offering a 500.000 baht reward for information leading to the arrest of the killer.

The man walked into the Aurora gold store at Robinson Mall on Phahon Yothin Highway in Kok Ko Ko at 19.44:9 p.m. wearing a balaclava, black shirt and camo pants. In his hand he had a XNUMXmm pistol with a silencer.

He shot directly at all persons in the store, both customers and staff. Two people were killed and four injured. He then jumped on the counter and snatched three trays of gold chains (worth about 500.000 baht). As he left, he shot and killed a guard and got on a red and white Yamaha Fino motorcycle with no license plate.

According to the police, the perpetrator acted alone. Even the police, who are used to something, are shocked by so much violence: “I wonder what possessed the man. A woman is dead, a child is dead. The perpetrator wanted gold, but why do people have to be killed for it? I can't imagine such a cruel spirit. I ask the public to help us find him… It's terrible, he just shot everyone on his arrival,” said an emotional Pol Lt Gen Amphol.

The police are deploying all available investigative capacity, including senior officers. Heavily armed police commandos are also deployed in the manhunt for this dangerous man.

    Intense video.
People just get executed. Hope they catch him soon.

The dead woman is no stranger to us. It is the daughter of friends in Lopburi.

    • Then it comes close. Horrible, what a drama. I am normally against the death penalty, but for this perpetrator an exception can be made.

I don't make an exception for anyone, by the way, life is even more cruel than a quick death (punishment). But if they find this man and it starts shooting at the police, it's no loss if he gets shot.

Very sad that innocent, defenseless people have been slaughtered like this (that 2 year old child, the 44 year old female shop assistant and a 22 year old security guard). Disgusting.

Strange because according to my wife, her friend's daughter who was shot was 30 years old and she died immediately. Apparently she worked in that gold shop too. Her name is not the same as what is stated in the article. That is apparently someone else who worked there, but perhaps she was first taken to hospital and then later died from the gunshot wound.
Of course, I don't know any details myself. Tonight is the last greeting. My neighbor is also the brother of the girl's father and went there with his wife and son. Maybe I'll find out more details tomorrow.

For your information. The correct name should be Thidarat Tongtip. If I write it right. I know her as Kwaang. She was 31 years old and leaves behind a husband and 4-year-old son.

Yesterday my wife already alerted me to this murderous incident. A more complete video can be seen on Thai social media. Upon entering the store, a man and a woman, who are looking at objects at the counter, are immediately shot by the robber. He has a large firearm in hand, with a silencer. A young girl standing with them manages to run away. Desk staff also make sure they get away. Then the robber jumps on the counter. See attached video.
In Thailand it often happens that people are killed without compassion and unscrupulous to achieve a certain goal. Indeed, sometimes several victims at the same time. Can be followed almost daily via Bangkokpost. Read this newspaper, a free version online, and you will get to know Thailand in a different way. It really isn't always paradise there.

I've always been amazed that jewelers in Thai shopping malls have their wares exposed on tables in front of the store while they themselves take a nap in the back of the store. Also that there are 2 or 3 mobile ATMs outside on every street corner, while you never hear about thuds, etc.

It had to go wrong once, but this is going very far. Knowing the Thai police, they will catch him within a week, not like those lap swans in NL who can only hand out speeding tickets.

And then we are not talking about the numerous exchange offices, such as in Pattaya, where there is usually one girl with a few hundred thousand Baht cash money. The bank branches are also still open and exposed as with us until the 70s.
I'm still amazed that there aren't more robberies here.
If that were still in Europe, I think there would be a robbery somewhere every hour.

Most banks here, if not all, have armed security guards in the lobby. Where I live, the Bangkok Bank has a uniformed and armed police officer in the lobby and the SCB bank has an armed security guard wearing a Kevlar vest.

        • A security guard is not a police officer. A bulletproof vest offers only hypocrisy. There is ammunition that just pierced such vests. The Belgian FN5.7 from the Herstal factory near Liège is such a pistol (https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/FN_Five-seveN) the gun is nicknamed 'cop killer'.
And that more or less also applies to an AK74 Kalashnikov whose cartridges also go through many cardigans.

I've known for years what humans are capable of, but this kind of action never gets used to. Ruthlessly shooting people for monetary gain. A totally twisted mind. Terrible for family and loved ones and those involved who can no longer tell the story. We see this happening all over the world, also in the Netherlands people are shot like wild animals. In the wrong place at the wrong time and it's over. Given his behavior and the reward offered and the police effort, I think it won't be long before he is arrested. The importance of getting this done quickly is obvious. Many interviewees on TV agreed that the death penalty would still be too lenient for this kind of person.

    €15000 for a tip for 3 murders…
I know I haven't seen/heard this in the land of smiles.
And think this will happen more often.
That this has not yet happened in Pattaya, where getting away on a motorcycle is a piece of cake, before the police act is fully present, the perpetrators are already in Bangkok.
Last mid-December a lot of streets were closed due to the arrival of the king, I wonder where the priority is if this happens at the same time?…

If they catch the perpetrator, they would like a slow agony in which the miscreant is immediately declared persona non grata by the prison director.

The problem is that because of the pressure to catch the perpetrator, mistakes can also be made. It will not be the first time and certainly not the last time that a stray Burmese who cannot defend himself is suddenly the perpetrator.

It is of course very terrible what happened in Lopburi.
I hope with all my heart that the perpetrator will be caught soon and that he will be tried according to the law that applies here. The sentence is determined by the judge based on evidence and confessions, not by Thai and Dutch bloggers based on emotions, although I understand that. But in a few months we will (unfortunately) forget it all again.
More attention should be paid to the feelings of the bereaved. In that regard, the press reported that the sexually abused victims of Epsten in the US thought it was cowardly of him that he committed suicide. Now they never know what he really thought and they never hear his apologies but they are scarred for life. You can't say that about Epstein.
Incidentally, research shows that in recent years judges in the Netherlands have started to impose stricter sentences (more towards the maximum sentence) on the basis of public opinion.

According to the latest news, the police think it was more than just a gold robbery and the deceased are investigating their behavior. He also used a 9mm gun with a long silencer and, according to the investigators, was trained in the use of weapons. Soldier or former soldier?

    • RonnyLatYa says up

      The deceased's behavior?
A 2-year-old who happens to be walking by his nut, a mother of a 4-year-old who worked behind the counter and a security officer who tried to stop him….

      • chris says up

It wouldn't be the first jealous lover to kill his ex-lover. Or don't you read newspapers?
Or a security officer who borrows money and doesn't pay it back?

        • RonnyLatYa says up

Beats. And that road is being investigated…. Because they had been separated for a while. It is also possible that they did not win the Thai lottery this time... So I would just watch out...

I got some details from the aunt.
Kwaan (that's what we called her) was hit first in the chest. She then collapsed and fell forward.
He then shot her four more times in the back.
The toddler was said to have been killed by a stray bullet.

It seems that the Thais think that it was not about gold but about ….
This according to my Thai wife who has day and daily contact with many in Thailand.
