During a brawl today at the Spicy Pub at Rong Muang Soi 1 (Phathumwan district) in Bangkok, one person was killed and two bystanders injured by flying bullets, the Bangkok Post reported.
The fatal victim is a 33-year-old man from Libya, who was present in the bar with friends.
The shooter was arrested with the help of witnesses, he was still carrying the gun. The Thai perpetrator said that he and his friends got into a fight with a group of foreigners. Because they were outnumbered, he pulled out a gun and fired several times at the victim. The Thai man and woman who were also hit by bullets were just bystanders.
The police have taken the perpetrator into custody and he is charged with murder and illegal possession of weapons.
I'm afraid the victim didn't know that it's best not to argue with Thai. It would have been better to run away, then he would still be alive.

Just enjoy your holiday, behave yourself and don't do crazy things that you wouldn't do in your own country and you will have a great holiday.
You can argue very well with a Thai if you stick to two conditions 1 do it privately ('Come with me, I want to talk to you') and not in public and 2 don't go you-bake but use an I- errand. So not 'you're a slob' but 'I don't like all that rubbish', not 'you're a screamer' but 'I don't understand you when you yell at me like that'. These are also good tools in the Netherlands to prevent a difference of opinion or quarrel from getting out of hand. That way you don't damage your ego and you don't let the other person lose face. I am not in favor of always tackling a Thai with velvet gloves and never even confronting it. That is not good for your relationship.

There was also a shooting at an eatery in Pattaya's Theprassit Road on Tuesday evening.

Well described myself, I have been coming to Thailand for many years and have never had any conflict and my experiences with Thai people are exactly the same as you describe here.
With a small side note that you can only enter into a discussion if you both have a reasonable command of the language (English or Thai), this is not the case, then do not start a discussion, and as I described before, you behave according to the rules and laws of the country and respect each other then you will never have problems in this beautiful country.
