The Thai police are sometimes in a hurry to point out foreigners in certain criminal activities. So is hacking into the ATMs of the Government Savings Bank. DThe police now say that there was also help from Thai during the theft.

That there are Thai accomplices was apparent from the fact that the gang used Eastern Europeans cars registered to Thais. The thieves also used rental cars, the fake red license plates for which were probably supplied by Thais.

According to the investigation, bank employees are not involved in hacking the ATMs. The police now have clear images of the suspects, which were captured at an ATM of a supermarket on Sukhumvit soi 23 in Bangkok.

The Bank of Thailand says it has not received any reports that other banks' ATMs have been similarly hacked. At the Government Savings Bank, a total of 21 ATMs were emptied by the gang. The loot amounted to 12 million baht. The devices were hacked and disconnected from the network to circumvent security.
