Foreign tourists will soon be able to receive VAT refunds in five department stores. The refund should make it easier for them to settle the VAT directly when they buy goods and services. Now this is only possible when you leave at the airport.

This will involve five department stores in Bangkok. There are now 10 VAT refund points across the country, all at airports: Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Krabi, Had Yai, Koh Samui, U-tapao, Surat Thani and Chiang Rai.

I have seen on Don Muang Bangkok, at the international terminal (behind Customs) that you can pick up goods that are packaged in plastic at King Power. These were “probably” bought somewhere at a store in Thailand.

King Power has a number of branches and a website where you can shop and pick it up at the airport.
Saves a lot of lugging and kilos when checking in 🙂 🙂
