Notorious Belgian weed grower flees to Thailand
Patrick Lagrou, a feared weed grower from Zandvoorde, Belgium, has fled to Thailand. Sources at the court have confirmed this to the Belgian media.
The man took off because he must stand trial within a month for owning a cannabis plantation on his farm.
In 2009, the police raided the Belgian's farm. They found a gigantic plantation with almost 20.000 plants. It was the largest cannabis plantation ever to be rolled up in Belgium. And it wasn't the first time Lagrou had harvested drugs there. The man would have earned a total of about 25 million euros from his trade.
According to insiders, Lagrou left for Thailand a year ago. Lagrou was released after his arrest pending trial. He applied for a tourist visa for Thailand and just got it.
Lagrou speaks Thai and has a house there. His tourist visa has expired in the meantime and the man is now under international surveillance. Thailand wants to arrest and extradite the Belgian, but he must first be found.

Another good example of what happens when you release such a person on bail and do not take his passport from him.
The big advantage now is of course that the Thai police will find him soon or would they still take protection money (teamoney)?
Looking forward to the sequel
Cor Verkerk
He can last a very long time if he has money, you saw that with John Belgraver who was only arrested after 23 years when he was broke. Money talk in the land of smile.
Money has to roll, so let him pay for his status here. His trial will certainly continue and soon he can still go to jail. How many young people would he have destroyed with those drugs? No pity.
And why should we fear that man so? Because he grows weed?
If they just sell weed at the counter, then I don't see what to fear. Those grams sold have also been grown somewhere, haven't they;
Agreed he can't grow that and he enriches himself without paying taxes, gambled and lost…although I'm not sure he's the loser yet.

With the temperament that man has, he will not be able to resist putting himself in the spotlight….
Thanks to the Thailand blog they will find him soon before he makes even more innocent victims.
It usually starts with being tough with your friends.
Then things go from bad to worse and the family is robbed to pay for the more expensive stuff.
In many cases it is then that the end is lost .
The nature is in the beast, he will not be ashamed of anything, it doesn't matter, as long as it brings in money.
Moderator: no off-topic discussion about weed please.
I know more people who choose Thailand if there is reason to flee from the Netherlands.
It often involves theft.
Thailand takes everyone with love and especially when money comes in 🙂
The weed in itself, don't argue about that.
But the 25 million euros earned from it makes the man a great and wealthy criminal.
After all, as long as cultivation is prohibited (in Belgium), he is working illegally.
All kinds of constructions are needed to launder that money
Fake companies, invoice scams, you name it.
All falls under the general heading of 'white collar crime'.
Furthermore, as such a big Jan you end up in other criminal organizations and activities.
Walking is the obvious response, in Thailand there are places where you can.
But also in Laos, Vietnam, … Until you run out of money, or do some stupid thing there.
Most of those men will sooner or later be extradited, or their bodies cremated on site or possibly repatriated.
What sticks with me the most is that this man was able to apply for a passport and travel to Thailand. What a joke, about the Belgian State.
Don't judge and condemn too quickly.
Was the passport issued by the government? Not sure hey, could be false…which it probably is and that explains a lot…
If I flee the country and I have so much money, I will get a new identity.
I too think he will be caught sooner or later, depends on how smart he is.
