Airport Rail Link spokesman Suthep Panpeng claims the Airport Rail Link is safe, but former deputy governor Samart of Bangkok thinks otherwise. According to him, many bolts that connect the rails to the steel plate on which the rails rest have come loose, creating an unsafe situation.

That is the explanation for the fact that the trains have to reduce their speed from 45 to 15 and 30 km per hour in two places to prevent serious accidents. Samart claims on Facebook that according to a maintenance report there are 159 vulnerabilities that need to be fixed urgently. Of these, 59 would be in 'critical condition'.

Suthep admits that repairs are necessary, but he says inspections and maintenance are being carried out. At the end of 2015, 28 km were repaired. In April last year, more technicians have been hired for visual inspections every month.
