13 tourists killed in bus accident in Doi Saket
At least XNUMX people were killed in a bus accident in northern Thailand yesterday. The accident occurred shortly after noon (local time) in Doi Saket, about thirty kilometers from the city of Chiang Mai.
The bus was full of Chinese tourists. The bus, on its way from Chiang Rai to Chiang Mai, had gone off the road because the driver was speeding. Reportedly, the bus driver had previously hit another vehicle in Chiang Rai. The driver gave chase. The bus driver tried to shake off the pursuer, but lost control of the wheel. At least XNUMX people were killed, including eight women and five men. Both Thai passengers and Malaysians of Chinese origin were on board the bus.
The bus driver was also injured and has since been arrested by the police.
According to a recent WHO study, Thailand's roads are the second most dangerous in the world, with 36,2 road deaths per 100.000 inhabitants. The organization estimates that there are approximately 24.000 road fatalities every year.
Sad case. What a strange message, first there is talk that the bus was full of Chinese tourists, later of Thai and Malaysian passengers. Chased from Chiang Rai to Doi Saket? That is just under 170 km – then it took a long time before things went wrong…………
on those narrow roads the pursuer will not have been able to overtake and cut the bus over that distance,
probably the bus driver had taken too much Yaa-Baa in chiang rai
Yes, it was on TV too, but my wife couldn't understand it either.
They showed a passenger car that was damaged, but she said that this happened in Chiang Mai and she also said mhnn, Chiang Mai and Doi DSaket are far apart.
You mean Chiang Rai, I think? Chiang Mai and Doi Saket are only about thirty kilometers apart.
Yes, sorry, Chiang Rai also told them on TV.
Damn it isn't normal. driver tried to shake off another harassing bus with his bus full of passengers with 13 deaths so far, how crazy do you want it here in Thailand
Another negative promotion for Thailand, some drivers drive really horribly, this is not good for tourism, a pity
I just got back and every time I'm amazed how these whoppers of buses tear across the roads. The road in between
Cha Am and Hua hin is simply used as a race track. Last week saw 4 of these buses crack one after the other next to each other, and this at a speed of more than 90 km per hour. I just got caught up, this is just asking for trouble. I took the bus from Hua hin to Chiang Mai once, never again. Most of these (drivers) are just kamikaze pilots playing with other people's lives. This also applies to the drivers of the minivans
.
I don't want to drive here, I've been here for 12 years, they drive more to the right of the track, I thought in Thailand on the left??? mopeds are very dangerous, speed??? they don't know that and I see forangs on the road that too this is how we drive here in Thailand, everyone on the road does what they want, police control is more like wearing a helmet on your moped
