Vacancy at the Belgian Embassy
The Belgian Embassy in Bangkok is looking for a versatile employee (m/f) for administrative work.
As far as is known, you do not have to have the Belgian nationality, but you must speak fluent Dutch or French. And English also seems useful, given that the vacancy description has been drawn up in English.
Below is the profile of the candidate:
- Fluent in Thai and English and at least 1 of 2 Belgian National languages: Dutch and French;
- Polyvalent, eager to learn, flexible;
- Computer skills and Web: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Outlook and Internet; Interest in IT programs;
- Education level: at least bachelor's degree;
- Monthly salary : 44.337,00 THB – Health scheme available;
- Unlimited contract (with one year contract in the beginning). Expected starting date: Before summer 2019.

One scandal paid so low. Pay according to Belgian standards and not Thai. Moreover, as far as I am concerned, that servant must speak both national languages fluently and not one. The embassy is obliged to speak to their compatriots in their mother tongue.
Local embassy employees – administrative workers, drivers, etc. – are given a contract of employment according to local standards, with the highly sought-after bonus of a scheme for medical costs, etc., often for the whole family. 45.000 baht per month (plus…) is definitely not low paid for a Thai administrative worker, as Ron believes.
This is already the third time in (less than) 2 years that a vacancy has been published at the Belgian Embassy. A bit strange, because it will probably not be that more and more employees are being recruited. Have the previous ones already been fired/left or are they simply not finding any candidates?
Cornelis what you think is not important, I find it unacceptable. Moreover, the reception there is not immediately so warm. Once I was approached there by a Thai servant in English. He apparently liked to refer me to a bank to wait. Well I shouted that I was in Dutch
Dutch wished addressed and not in English. Pretty soon a friendly lady was there who immediately helped me further in Dutch. The embassy is Belgian territory and there you are obliged to speak to you in your national language.
