Those who regularly go to the Thai nightlife know that many Thai women are excellent dancers. They have a good sense of rhythm and are quite flexible in the hips. I'm not referring to the Gogogirls who wobble back and forth on a stage out of boredom.

Sexy and provocative, Coyote dancers

In Thailand a certain style of sexy dancing is known as the coyote dance. The girls who perform this dance are called, you guessed it: Coyote dancers. “Coyote” comes from the 2000 movie “Coyote Ugly”, a movie about the nightclub of that name in which captivating ladies give exciting dance performances on the bar.

This phenomenon has been popular in Thailand for a long time and special clubs were even opened where these Thai ladies performed their dance, with of course many young male spectators. Especially Thai students and Thai from the social middle class attended these occasions. The clubs were originally intended for the Thai themselves and not for tourists. Yet tourists soon discovered these types of clubs and visited them in large numbers. The most important part of their performance is the dance, which is usually energetic and exuberant, often performed in matching outfits. These outfits range from casual attire to more seductive costumes, depending on the venue and the occasion. Sometimes these outfits are inspired by pop culture, incorporating elements of anime, video games, and other forms of entertainment.

It is important to note that while Coyote dancers often work in settings associated with the adult industry, they are strictly entertainers, and their job is primarily about dancing and entertaining clients, not other forms of adult entertainment. The reputation and perception of Coyote dancers in Thai society are mixed. Some consider it a legitimate form of entertainment and a way for young women to earn an income. However, others have criticized the industry, claiming it is exploitative and contributes to the objectification of women.

Clubs with Coyote dancers in Bangkok

A well-known club where many beautiful Coyote dancers used to be admired is the Hollywood Bangkok Club in Soi 11 Rachada (I don't know if the club still exists). A popular club that attracted both Thai and farang. If you immediately bought a bottle of whiskey upon entering, you did not have to pay an entrance fee. A tip to the waiter or waitress will secure a table on the ground floor close to the stage. That was advisable because it could accommodate more than 1.000 people.

Almost banned by Thai government

In 2006, the Thai government considered banning young women (18, 19, 20, etc.) from taking a job as a Coyote dancer. The motivation for this was that the dancing would be too intensive and too heavy for young girls. The real reason was that tourists should not get the wrong impression of Thai women….

In recent years, the phenomenon seems to be dying out a bit. You will still see Coyote dancers at local car shows and dance/music performances in Isaan.

The video below shows the so-called Coyote dance, judge for yourself.

Sorry, as much as I love being in Thailand, but these ladies can't dance at all. And most of them have too narrow hips and barely a bottom to swing it. The writer has probably never been to Brazil. Some people sometimes exaggerate there, but to reach that level, a lot of water will have to flow through the Chao Phraya.

Sorry but the music and the dance are not synchronous there is a piece of music among different dancers who don't make much effort in my opinion. More like the go go girls in the bar.

I can well imagine that the Thai government would rather not have this. This little fattie not only clearly doesn't feel like it, she can't do anything about it either.

Even in my small town in the provinces, I see ordinary farm girls on stage who really, really, really screw up before the local politician has his say….

Well, pretty sexy dancing. I prefer this to dancing to a Viennese waltz or something like that.

At our factory in Lad Krabang, a Coyote dancing competition is regularly held during a factory party. Just for fun and the winner gets an electric fryer or something. Most teams consist of 4 girls. Some teams have been practicing for weeks before, during the break, in a closed room because their dance must remain a secret from the competition! Participants and viewers always have great fun with it!! You will be amazed how well those girls, whom you only know in their factory uniform, can dance! Always fun and has nothing to do with sex.

Forbid coyote dancing but a go-go bars where a lot more happens
then only some dances remain. The Thai overhead is always
how illogical and irrational in their actions in my opinion.

just for your information: there are both girls and boys Coyote dancers. It just depends on what kind of tent / club you go to.

No , they should not completely do away with this for me . I have never been to Brazil , but Youtube is full of them , beautiful girls with round bottoms . But I have also seen many beautiful girls in Thailand with the round shapes in the right place. Well, it's a good thing we don't all have the same taste.

I thought these "dancers" already existed in the 1800s

I still agree with Sjaak S.'s reaction, Thai women cannot dance and have no sense of rhythm, both here in the Netherlands during birthday parties, or parties in the Waalwijk temple, as well as the dancers who dance during parties in Thailand. a stage to 'hop'. It works on my laughing muscles, like in the video they are lascivious/sexy movements but it has nothing to do with dancing.
Those who love it will only react from their lust, or cross.
I have no experience with how people dance in bars, but what I see here in videos on the Thailand blog is that of the same sheet.
The traditional or authentic dances are beautiful to see, but the pace is a lot slower there.
