Dear readers,

I think they use tourist prices at the ticket office at the station. On the SRT app, a train ticket Bangkok – Kanchanaburi is 25 baht
At the counter I paid 100 baht. The other people on the train paid 25 baht, I've seen their tickets.

Why is that?

Regards,

Mark

  1. Maybe they had a 3rd class ticket and you a 2nd class?

100 Bath is the price for a ticket for a foreigner on this train. Regardless of where you drive.
That has been the case for years. Thais pay less that has been the case for years.

    Note to Peter's answer:

The train ticket states the train with the departure time, the carriage and the seat, so there is little chance that you will make a mistake in class…

    Note to Thailandganger's answer:

My wife and I traveled from Bangkok to Hua Hin by train in January. We both paid 94 baht for a 3rd class seat in a Rapid train. We bought the tickets at the counter between the tracks in Bang Sue station.

I think the reason must be sought elsewhere…

Yes, I often travel from Bangkok to Ayutthaya vv, costs something like 15 bath, but my girlfriend then travels for 0 bath

  5. only there says up

Really applies (for now) ONLY on that line and even only on the through trains from BKk/west, behind that grand hospital-special tourist price, like so many in TH. There is a good chance that it will also apply if that line along that line made so interesting by the media is once again repaired by the shifting market.
It is true that for years poor Thais could use the 3rd class local trains for free, now that has been replaced by a balance per month on their poor people's card (blue flag). Although once I got a free ticket for DMK-Samsen (otherwise costs 3 bt).
For retirees, the discount that is normally granted to Thai sometimes applies or sometimes does not.
