Dear readers,

We would like to know if there are Dutch reliable brokers in Thailand. We would very much like to rent something first and then maybe also buy, but we don't know who to contact then.

Groet

Herman

If you are looking for a very luxurious apartment in Bangkok, I can recommend Sukhumvit Homes. The owner, Jeroen, is a Dutchman. https://sukhumvithomes.com/

    Dear Herman.
It is wise to rent first. A year contract for a condo is not too dangerous.
Then watch the cat from the tree.
Read everything about buying and renting in this blog.
Even then you can decide where.
If you take a broker, realize that there is no NVM or similar organization that supervises.
In Thailand it is best to be assisted by a lawyer recognized by Thai law for a lease or purchase agreement.
Read this blog about good lawyers/firms.
Remember in everything that you are in Thailand and not in the Netherlands with all certainties and regulators.

    Good luck

What will be your destination in Thailand?

    • Herman says up

first thanks everyone for all the replies and information,

the destination will probably be Koh Samui or Hua Hin, yes we want to rent something for a year first. but I have also seen the rental prices, and those are also nice prices.
but are there no Dutch lawyers on Koh Samui at all?
      what is good health insurance?
is it better to close it there?
is a condo an apartment? and what else are nice places to live and close to the sea?

      regards Herman

      Dear Mike,

We are looking for a rental house on Koh Samui, we plan to live for a year from next year, and then we will see if it is right for us, and then buy.
and what kind of visa do we actually need for 1 year of living?
and what about the covid rules?

      regards Herman

Thailand is 14 times the size of the Netherlands. To just look for a real estate agent without saying where you want to live does not seem useful to me.

We have good experiences with Ronald van der Meulen in Jomtien, this is also a beautiful seaside resort.

Herman, why a NL broker? Does that absolutely have to be an NL-er? And in your response you suddenly talk about lawyers? Flemings are not allowed? Or an English speaker? You do not mention any places in your question where you want to find out about living in a large country like Thailand; yes, 'probably' Koh S and Hua Hin if asked…

Have you prepared yourself well for the step you want to take? In any case, you haven't studied this blog properly yet. That is my advice: first read thoroughly and then come and try it out for a year.

As for health insurance, the Health Insurance Act only exists in NL. Internationally this is called a health insurance policy and in Thailand you can go to AA in various places in Thailand. You can go there with your Dutch language.

Your health insurance will expire upon emigration from NL, but there are NL insurance companies that offer an international health insurance policy. That's what the premium is for....

There are reliable Thai real estate agencies in almost all major cities. I think you should take a look there. If I wanted to rent/buy something in the Netherlands or Belgium, I wouldn't look for a Thai broker there either.

The brokerage profession falls under “brokerage/agency”, 1 of the professions prohibited for non-Thai. There is therefore no legal Dutch broker in Thailand.
However, there are many Thai real estate agents in Thailand. Question of searching the internet.
