What's going on with the weather in Thailand?

Dear readers,

I've been in Pattaya for several weeks now and what I see is clouds and rain. I understand that it is rainy season, but I have never experienced this before and I have been coming to Thailand during this period for at least 15 years.

I feel sorry for the tourists who come to Thailand for a sun holiday, I think the weather is better in the Netherlands now.

Regards,

Otto

You have seen a shift in the rainy season in recent years. You now often have a lot of rain in April and May (See Hua Hin, for 3 years in a row) and Pattaya the same. And then August often also as the end of the rainy season. On the other hand, you see that it rains less in Krabi/Phuket. It is striking, yes. Especially in April and May it was just really bad weather in Hua Hin with days of rain, rain and more rain. It didn't make you good.

When was that then? I live 10 kilometers south of Hua Hin. I know that it rained now and then, but days in a row? Strange that I didn't notice that.
We have had really heavy precipitation a few times, which were often the tails of the storms that blew all over Thailand.
Can't really say it's any different now. All I see is that there is enough rain to keep everything green, but also dry enough to enjoy cycling. Usually the rain falls in the afternoon… the best time.

If you want to come for the sun as a holiday maker, January to March is the safest. Night owls sometimes get the comment that they are not tanned after their Thai holiday. First of all, that is only a good thing because nobody wants skin cancer, but for the vain or the people who are fed up with social control, there is an option in Bangkok https://bkksun.com/
