When are you the legal owner, or not?

Dear readers,

For example, do you own a new car when you have paid 100% directly (by bank transfer) to a garage in Thailand, but that car is registered in the name of a Thai? Is there a difference if you have transferred the total purchase price of that new car to the bank account of the relevant Thai, who in turn transfers the sum to the Thai garage?

Question I have is: who is the owner, the person who paid or is the owner the person whose name is on the purchase receipt?

Please respond urgently.

With best thanks,

Frank

Frank, a car is also a registered good in Thailand. There is a registration book for this in Thailand. If your name is there, you are the owner (unless you have taken out financing with retention of title, but that does not seem to be the case). I assume you own the book? If not, I'd go check it out.

If you have paid, and that Thai went to the garage with that money and bought the car, then it is now registered in the name of that Thai (unless that Thai has explicitly informed you that he has left your name in the blue book). places).

So even if you can prove that you paid, that Thai can say that this was a gift from you to him.

What is your relationship with that Thai?

If you have transferred the money directly to that garage (car dealer) and you have email correspondence or other proof that you want that car (which is actually a kind of purchase contract), then the car dealer is not allowed to put that car in the name of that Thai , without your permission, I think.
If you have given permission for this (a lady you want to end the relationship with afterwards?), then you can – if that lady has a bad mood – whistle at that car.

The owner is the one whose name is in the blue book.

Very simple. The owner of the car belongs to the person in whose name it is registered, as everywhere in the world. It does not matter who paid.

The answer to this question is very simple:
the owner is this one whose name is in the blue book. Who or how paid is irrelevant. To get your name in that blue booklet, you must have a permanent address in Thailand and you can obtain the document of residence at Immigration or, if you are registered with the Ampheu, you can also do so here. If you move to another address, this must also be reported to the Transport Office and adjusted. Somewhere very logical.

    What do you think now?
Of course, the owner is the person whose name is in the “Blue Book” or Green for motorcycle.
