Dear readers,

I have a reader question, and it is…

Soon 7-12-2013 I will leave for 6 months to Nakhon Ratchasima province.

Which nearby place should I choose for a visa run? I know of a few in the North and North-East of Thailand, but not at all near or near Nakhon Ratchasima.

Can one of the readers give me an answer to that?

bvd

    Hi Leo.
I used to live in korat and then went to laos.
You take the night train from Korat to Nongkai and you will be at the border at about 05.00:XNUMX.
There we usually shared taxi with other runners directly to embassy.
Another day at 14.00 pick up passport and return.

    Good luck Harry.

now that minivans drive directly from Khorat to Aran=the major border town with Poipet, that seems to me the fastest and shortest link. You do have to go into Camb - that will cost you 20 US$ official, plus the extra tips. Entrance to Laos is over 35 US$ for NL and further away.

    Hi leo
It is best to go to Surin, where you have a border crossing with a casino near Kap Choeng. There is no bridge so no waiting times there you walk across the border pay your Cambodia visa go to the other counter to stamp yourself out there and you walk back to the Thai side…. all in all half an hour.
If you come from Korat you drive towards Chokchai 25 km after Chokchai you follow Nangrong Buriram about 90 km from Nangrong you follow Prasat about 80 km and from there you follow Kap Choeng all in all a good 200 -250 km. From Korat it is over 300 km to Nongkai and it takes quite a while to cross the bridge (Bus waiting times). Poipet is the same about 300 km from Korat and a very busy border crossing.
This is purely for stamping out and back into Thailand, there is no consulate here to apply for a visa.
If you need to apply for a visa at the consulate, yes then Nongkai or Mukdahan is recommended

    • Hello Leo,

Why not tie it in for a few days right away. Cambodia is cheaper than Thailand. If you need some addresses, just email us.

Hello Leo, I went to Chock Chai Immigration service last Tuesday. it is about 30 km outside Nakhon Ratchasima. So a visa run is no longer necessary.
