Reader question: Visa run from Hua Hin

Dear readers,

At the beginning of January I have to make a visa rum from Hua Hin, so I am orientating myself here, well in time. Some information is available via Google, but not very up-to-date.

Opposite Hua Hin station is an office that, according to the information on the outside, organizes visa runs, but inside no one knew how to inform me about it.

She told another travel agency (lomprayah) that they had stopped. They said there that there was also a lot of uncertainty about which border posts were open for a border run.

Does anyone have recent experience with a visa run from Hua Hin? And does anyone know which border posts are open for that purpose?

All information is welcome.

Regards,

Peter

Under the 'Condochain' condominium (that yellow building opposite Bangkok Hospital, also known as 'The Miserly Flat') is an office that organizes trips to Kanchanaburi.
(the price depends on the number of travelers that come along. In my case it turned out to be more interesting to go by car myself)

Please note: this is only possible if you already have a valid visa to re-enter Thailand. So a 'Multiple Entry visa'.

Another option is the 'Yellow Bus' to Mukdahan. And then with the International bus to Savannakhet, Laos. The Thai consulate there works efficiently and painlessly. If you do your visa application there in the morning, you can pick up your passport with a new visa the next afternoon.

      Dear RobHH,
I understood that Kanchanaburi was no longer possible and that you could only cross the border there with a visa for Myanmar. Is it possible with non-immigrant O multiple entry?
      Regards.

For me it was last July that I was there. And judging by the comments below, it's still possible.

I think the messages of 'that it couldn't be done anymore' come from people who don't have a valid visa to return to Thailand.
No new entry visa will be issued. ALSO not for just 15 days.

You must therefore be in possession of a valid entry visa. So 'Multiple Entries'.

Thank you. On your own, with a car, also doable in terms of arranging?

    Dear Peter,

At the height of the Bangkok Hospital in Hua Hin (not far from the Market Village), the Condochain Hua Hin is located. It's a big yellow building across the street.
A travel agency is located at the bottom of the building, but they also organize “Borderruns”.
They go to Phu Nam Ron checkpoint (Kanchanaburi). This border post is open again for “Borderrruns”, but only if you have a “Multiple entry” visa, ie no “Borderrun” with “Visa Exemption”.
I can't remember the exact name of the travel agency. I had the phone number saved somewhere. The number is 0918214826.
    Ask for information there.
They are not really cheap, but their service is good. Driver drives calmly and does not drink. He also takes care of everything at the border.
Don't do it at the last minute because they don't run on fixed days, but only if there are enough customers.

    Hi Peter,
On Phetkasem just before the U turn at the Bangkok hospital there is a company with whom you can do a visa run. Have done this twice with them. Good service and they keep their promises perfectly.
Wednesday as I go for the 3rd time.
I don't remember the name of the place where we cross the border. But is west of Kanchanaburi
    And also called Kanchanaburi Immigration.
Hope this is of some use to you.
    John

That is the Phu Nam Ron border post and depends on the head office which is located in Kanchanaburi

Another idea: by bus via Chumphon to Ranong. In Ranong with a boat back and forth to Myanmar. Simple and cheap.

There was a time when I also had to do a border run. I've never really understood people why they wanted to make a real run of it. I always planned that during the holidays and then did it quietly, combined with a visit to one of the neighboring countries. For example, went to Ranong, a great town by the way, combined that with a visit to Patho with a rafting, or a week in Cambodia, for example. Really didn't see the reason to drive like crazy and walk like crazy the same day…. having to do that “border hop”. Ask yourself: what is so indispensable in Thailand that one cannot do without it for a quiet two or three days?

Exactly why not a nice quiet trip of a few days, Ranong is a good place to be!
Can also go to Prachuab KK city first, from there there is a direct connection to Ranong, goes several times a day.
You can arrange everything well organized from Ranong with the boat!

Thanks for all the tips folks. Try out the route via Ranong, make it a nice outing as suggested.

Yep, sometimes I'm right.... haste and haste are seldom good…. Go to Ranong and enjoy the trip instead of crossing the border like crazy to get your stamp, after all that is of NOTHING use to you …. And if ' Thie Rakje” can't spare you for a day or you can't afford her, then take them with you ….. shared fun, double fun.
