Reader question: Settling in Hua Hin

Dear readers,

I have read all the questions about Hua Hin in this forum up to 2010 but have not found all the answers I was looking for. I have been living in Pattaya for a few years now, but now I just want to live in Hua Hin for a year.

I'm looking for a villa or condo with at least 2 bedrooms on an annual contract (I'm single but I get a lot of visitors from Holland and the surrounding area) I can pay between 20 and 25 k baht per month. I don't have transport so in the jungle is not possible. May be located in another village nearby, but preferably within walking distance of the beach and main livelihood shops or on a much-used tuk-tuk road such as in Pattaya.

Further questions are:

  • Is there an immigration service in Hua Hin?
  • Are there Lotus Tesco or Big C stores?
  • Is border run from Hua Hin possible and where did it go (anyone has good experience with firm?).

My current contract in Pattaya expires on December 1, so I want to conclude a new annual contract. I also plan to spend two weeks there in July to poke around. Perhaps someone also knows a reliable broker or has other suggestions on what to look out for?

Thanks in advance for your info,

Piet

I can answer the first two questions with a resounding “yes”. The Visa run question not with certainty, but with high probability.
For the money you have to spend, you are sure to find something nice in Hua Hin or beyond. Hua Hin is not a backward seaside resort, where you won't find anything, but a beautiful city by Thai standards and I prefer it many times over Pattaya, which is too messy for me.
You won't find the nightlife of Pattaya here, but there is plenty available. There will be many answers that can describe it in more detail.
In any case, you will have no trouble finding a nice spot.

    Call Henk Michelbrink 0870 087 670
This can answer all your questions.
A 10 Baht bus runs throughout the center.

I can say from experience that visa runs are arranged in Hua hin to Kanchanaburi costs are approximately 2500 bath with private car back and forth in 10 hours

live in hua hin myself and I know real estate agents who, especially now that it is quiet, offer a nice 13000 bedroom cottages with a communal swimming pool, e.g. suk sabaai in soi 2.
But there are more developments here for about 15000 bath.

where I live in soi 102 I know a villa with 3 bedrooms on a plot where there are 4 apartments, so it is quite large in terms of surface.

House 15000 bath on a minimum one year contract so plenty of choice

    Hi Pete,

As previous readers have indicated, all your questions can be answered with YES.
Hua Hin is a beautiful and large (bath) place with plenty of options.
We also rent houses and an annual contract is certainly one of the possibilities.
See our website: http://www.thaidewandeling.be under the holiday homes section.

Good luck and have fun in Hua Hin.

    Frame.

    Hi Mark

I can strongly recommend a friend of mine, Henk Michebrink. He has lived in Hua Hin for a long time and owns a real estate office and consultancy firm. So, he can not only take care of your accommodation but also for all your questions regarding visas, etc. He is Dutch and that makes a difference in intelligibility... ha ha! Here is his website and you can safely say that Marleen sent you. http://www.huahinconsultancyrealestate.com
    Good luck.
    Marleen
