Reader question: Is my train ticket booked or not?

Hello editors of Thailandblog, you have a wonderful site. My question, I just booked a night train trip to Chiang Mai on thailandtraintickets.com on January 10, departure 18:10 PM.

Is the arrival the next morning January 11 around 08:00? I have no idea how long travel time is. Do you know? I also booked my first night in Chiang Mai on January 11, I hope I did that right…?

But my main question is, after filling in and completing my details for the train journey, did I get the impression that it is not booked but only for inquiry? Do you know exactly how that works and whether or not I can count on my semi-booked train ticket?

I am traveling alone for the first time, I find it quite exciting…

Thanks in advance and I hope you can help me out a bit….

Greetings,

Renske

Good choice to take the night train. Nice experience. Watch your personal belongings. Always carry with you. If there is a seat number on your ticket, then you have just booked. You should take the arrival time with a grain of salt. That is never right. It's somewhere between 8 and 9 sometimes even later, in my experience. Before departure, people walk around with a tray full of glasses of cold juices. It looks like you get this, but they come back to you for the checkout. Comparatively way too expensive. At least, that was when I still went by train. I only take domestic flights now.
You can also order food and drinks and they will bring it to you. Table is foldable.

I would say if the money has been deducted from your account it is booked.
Print your proof and see how it goes from there. Have a pleasant journey for the rest.

It seems clear to me that if you get the message on the screen that eea is not booked, that means that it is not booked?

I thought you couldn't book a train ticket via the internet for 2 years now. That's why I'm going by plane these days. Costs a bit more, but you do win an extra day.

You have booked with said website which is really just a travel agency.

There is nothing wrong with that because you can no longer book online at the official State Railway of Thailand for a number of years. (progress?)

They will first check whether the journey you want is available and then send someone to the train station to buy the ticket, so to speak.

The prices are the same as with the official railways. Delivery of your ticket to the hotel only costs 100thb I saw.

http://www.railway.co.th is the website of Thai Railways

You will still be hearing from them.
