Dear readers,

In December I arranged a tourist visa for 2 months through a courier, which cost 7000 baht, in Cambodia. But want a new tourist visa again in February.

Do I have to go back to Cambodia or can I just go to the Thai immigration office here in Sisaket?

Thanks in advance,

Geert

You can extend a tourist visa for 1900 baht for 30 days at any immigration office in Thailand.
For a new tourist visa you will have to go to an embassy or consulate and they are only located outside Thailand, so yes you will have to go to Cambodia, Laos (where they also issue double entries), Malaysia or something.

It depends on how long you want to stay after your current visa expires and whether you can meet certain conditions, otherwise these are options. (See also Visa file)

    1. If you want to stay for a short period, you can request an extension of 30 days on your TR Visa, possibly supplemented with a 15-day visa run to the border, or 30 days via a cheap flight that takes you outside Thailand and possibly the same day brings back. Might cost you less than 7000 Bath.

    2. If you want to stay longer, you can, if you meet the conditions, have your TR visa converted into an O visa (Multiple entry possible?) at immigration.
I do not know your age and details, but perhaps a one-year extension is also possible after obtaining the O visa
Request information from the immigration office here.
If necessary, go to Pattaya Immigration where they are more familiar with applications such as visa conversions.

    3. Get a new TR visa outside Thailand.

Have a visa extended with a courier via Cambodia!! It smells very bad indeed.
The passport is a personal travel document, using the passport in this way is not wise in my opinion.
If that courier is caught, you will also lose the hare and your passport. Then you have some explaining to do at the Ned Embassy and at Thai immigration.
My gut feeling says never again.

Geert, I hope for your sake that the stamp your courier received upon entering Thailand is a real stamp. There is a chance that this stamp has been counterfeited. If immigration sees this, then you are the cigar for just saying so. Never do this again!

    Hello thailand lovers.

Very interesting article about TV and I also had a question about that.

My second double entrance also ends in March and the TV is also only valid until March 5th.
Is it the case that I have to go back to the Netherlands especially to apply for it again at the consulate, or can that also be done at one of the neighboring countries Cambodia / Laos.
And is there also a possibility for a year visa, or are there other conditions?
Suppose the visa expires in March, and I would not go to another country, can it also be extended for another month at the immigration service.

    Greetings Robert

      1. You can normally get your TR visa in the neighboring countries you mention.
Keep in mind that if you repeatedly and consecutively obtain TR visas, people will sometimes ask whether you do not want to stay in Thailand for a long time and your purpose is other than tourism. Refusal can be a consequence.

      2. If by annual visa, you mean a Non-Immigrant “O” Multiple Entry then it is yes.
According to their website it is possible. You must of course meet the conditions and submit the necessary supporting documents.
Here is the link of the Embassy in Vientiane. You will also find the supporting documents to be provided, price and other information

      http://vientiane.thaiembassy.org/vientiane/en/consular/consular_check/

Although it is on the website, it might be wise to contact the relevant embassy/consulate in advance.
Can you also inform which financial proofs they accept.

If by an annual visa you mean a so-called “retirement” visa, you will first need to have a Non-Immigrant “O”. You can get it in the embassy of a neighboring country, but you can also exchange your “TR” for an “O” at immigration in Thailand. Please contact the immigration office for this.
For such applications, it is best to go to an immigration office that is familiar with such applications. E.g. Pattaya. It will probably be easier there than in immigration offices that are less familiar with this.
Of course you also have to meet conditions for a “retirement” visa, but they have already been mentioned a dozen times on the blog, otherwise you can read them in Dossier Visa Thailand.

      3. Regarding the expiration of your visa.
The validity period of the visa is only important for entry.
You must therefore enter Thailand before that date, ie activate your visa or entries (1,2, 3 or XNUMX).
It doesn't matter that the validity period of the visa expires during your stay because you are already in Thailand. So you can get an extension on that.
Do not leave Thailand anymore, of course, because your visa has been used up.
