Dear readers,

Can you get a flu shot in Thai hospitals? From the viruses they expect here, of course.

Yours faithfully,

MA

Yes, this is possible, just ask at the reception about the "flu injection" and you will then see a doctor. Explain to him why you need the shot and especially ask for the latest and new shot. Check the date on the packaging yourself. The flu virus changes every year, so the composition of the flu shot must also be adjusted annually to the flu viruses prevailing at that time. So last year's injection is of no use to you this year.

Yes. It is even true that many Thai people have a cold and flu during the rainy season. That seems to have to do with getting wet from the rain (wet clothes) in combination with going in and out of air-conditioned environments such as buildings, the MRT and the BTs and of course your own house or bedroom. And sometimes the wind.
Incidentally, all other recommended injections that you get in the Netherlands to go to Thailand are available here at a lower price. This certainly applies to shots against (street) dog bites. So if you have to pay for the injections yourself and you plan to stay here for a while…………..

They also have the flu shot here, just a different serum than in Holland. You get the shot for the most common flu virus and since there are several viruses, it is not certain that you will not get the flu. Most people think that a flu shot protects them from the flu, but that is really not the case.

Are you sure you want a flu shot, if you know what's in it. I would never do it. And most in the healthcare industry don't either. Google it and I'm sure you'll let it. Or you must have serious complaints and have a super low immune system.
