Dear readers,

I am now in the Netherlands. I have a Thai bank account with Kasikornbank. But now my Thai phone number in the Netherlands is no longer working (ais 12call 0800694784).

I transferred money 4 months ago by SMS from the Thai bank, when my Thai number still worked (now the phone says no network coverage).

Who knows what to do?

Merry greeting,

Peter Yai

    Try adjusting the settings manually.

At network operator manual search for the network.
    Maybe roaming is off?
Check whether your SIM card has not expired.
Please let us know what kind of phone you have. Maybe a solution then.

    Hi Peter,

how long has it been since you recharged your Thai phone card ??? If more than 3 months, your number is simply deleted and will be issued to someone else after a while. I know the problem with internet banking in Thailand, instead of a digipas or card reader, they work here with an SMS code number ….. annoying if you cannot receive SMS because that immediately means that you can no longer do internet banking.

You may not have a subscription, but a prepaid card. If it is not “fed” in time, your SIM card may expire. It would be best to call / email your provider and ask if your sim is still active and if it can be re-activated.

Your Thai provider does not have a roaming contract with foreign providers, at least not European providers. You can – in my experience – receive a call, but you cannot make the call yourself. Just buy a SIM card in NL.

    What you write is normal.
A Thai telephone number, mobile phone number is only usable in Thailand alone, not in any foreign country, not even in the surrounding countries such as Cambodia… (concerns bilateral and other broadcasting agreements) you can indeed use your number inside Thailand to do banking transactions but not outside of it, then you have to use your internet Kasikornbanking via your PC, easy to apply for on the spot in your bank, cannot be applied for from Europe ... please note here the bank accounts must be added after approval and after the necessary correct docs via Bangkok main office… they are working on a better system to add numbers… it is better to have your frequently used numbers added locally, by post can take a long time and online is not yet available…
Your number will also stop working if you wait a long time to travel to Thailand again, as it has a usage limit date on it… that date can be seen every time you top up at least 300 baht, charging less will give you no or almost no extension of your due date balance…

That's not right, my AIS prepaid works fine: I can receive Kasikorn SMS in the Netherlands, in the Philippines...
My credit is always valid for 1 year, which is indicated after I have bought belteg food (50 baht, or 100 baht).

The Thai providers simply have roaming agreements with almost all countries. It is therefore not correct what you say that the Thai SIM cards cannot be used in the surrounding countries.
You just have to turn on roaming.
At kasikorn you will receive an SMS for the code (kind of tan)
However, you can also arrange a pin 2. This can be done on the site when you log in.
The only problem may be that you cannot add new accounts. But you can still make payments to the numbers that have already been added.
      Upgrading is also possible.

Dear Geert, to put it bluntly; none of what you say is correct, I have a Thai number from Dtac and I can be reached in the Netherlands on that number, by my Thai family, if they lose my Dutch number again and I can also simply go there from the Netherlands Calling Thailand, just tried to see if what I say is correct, I just got in touch, person was just not happy because of the time difference, he was still sleeping well.
Also, when I purchased the card, I immediately contacted Dtac because I wanted to keep this number, it is a nice/easy number, but on a prepay basis, of course no problem, I just have to pay an amount at least once a year. You can simply deposit on the card via the Siam City bank and I will keep this number as long as there is calling credit on it and it is used at least once a year.

      Yours faithfully,

      Lex K.

    Dear Peter Ray,
Now that you are in the Netherlands you can try Telecompare, which is cheap calling from the Netherlands to Thailand.
I have been calling our son who lives in Chiang Mai for at least seven years for 3 euro cents per minute.
You can look it up on your PC. Good luck.

I am logged in to the KPN network and the number works for me
    Good luck Eve

I have been using a 2009call number since 12... it is on all day.. I have reach via KPN.. I had friends who regularly go to TH bring me a set of top-up cards for the amount of 500 Bth. Once a year I top up the phone for 100 Bth... so I can use this number for a few more years (all receive it). I never have more than 100 Bth of calling credit on it... so I can't make calls. and on my next flight to TH . I have a telephone available immediately upon arrival in BKK. .. Good luck .. Jos

When was the last time you upgraded? You should do that at least once a year.

I'm also with the same provider and bank and live in the Netherlands, I'm not at home right now. But I'll check when I get home. At least a month ago anyway. So I always make sure that I top up on time.

Dear phone owner, please reject questions and other questions. This question belongs to a
Other category????????.you go to Thailand with a Dutch phone and
You have a Thai SIM card inserted. With this you can only call in Thailand. So the SIM card
Take it out when you return home and keep it until your next trip to Thailand. Validity of balance
Depends on how much you have on it.
    Succes

You can only be called on this number because your card has expired and should have been topped up in time. You now need to urgently top up your Thai card from the Netherlands. This can be done via prepaid union, then it will work again, good luck.

If the phone indicates that there is no network coverage, you can no longer receive calls or receive SMS. Upgrading therefore seems pointless to me for Peter Yai.

Furthermore, a number of other previously given responses are incorrect.

AIS / 12call just works in the Netherlands, via the KPN network I think, you have to turn it on in advance. Theoretically you can even use the internet, but it will cost you all your calling credit very quickly. Peter Yai even indicates that it worked.

Depending on your set 'call plan', your top-up has a certain validity. No matter what I upgrade, I always get an extra year. You can also top up via your bank, in my case Kasikorn, but then your SIM must of course still work.

  11. eduard says up

I am sure that you can call Thailand from Holland and Germany with a Thai prepaid (provided there is enough on it). 12 Call works together with KPN. If you would like to have a year's shelf life credit for 120 baht, there are some available here and there are vending machines outside where you can top up the prepaid with 10 baht and then you get a validity of 1 month, but if you do this 12 times you have a year's validity for 120 baht

    • LeoT says up

Did you put the country code for Thailand (+66) in front?
With AIS I could only call Thailand after it was added and I see T-Mobile appear as a provider.

  12. peter says up

What nonsense it all concerns a prepaid card or do all Dutch people in Thailand have a subscription. Don't think so.
What you should not forget about a prepaid card is that it is initially only suitable for use in Thailand and is usually valid for a few months, which is extended with each time you top up.
So if you go to the NETHERLANDS, your card will not work in the Netherlands and if you stay away longer than the validity period after the last top-up, your card will no longer work when you return to Thailand.
So what to do if you buy a prepaid then you usually have to use it for a few months and then you can upgrade it to be valid for a year. and in addition, you usually have to have your card made suitable for travel to any country, i.e. make it international.
That goes through in one step.
Then you can safely put your card in another phone to the Netherlands and you will have the network of a Dutch provider, for example KPN.
And you will also receive text messages from the bank in Thailand to transfer money.
No hokus pokus, no roaming, especially not. will cost you money.
You can also top up your calling credit via the bank.

    success

    Peter

I have Dtac and my SMS just works in NL, can only receive SMS, not call.
I always top up with 500 baht and then I request to set the date limit to 1 year, that happens. If you take a lower amount for top-up and you want a longer date limit, you pay 20 baht for it.

  14. Richard says up

At Dtac ( or happy ) you can see on your phone how much credit you have left .

What you can also see is the validity until when.

    Key:
In that same text message at the bottom is until when the sim is valid

With me it says 25-00-58 so January 25, 2015
