Dear,

I have 2 questions.

I heard reports (rumours) that soon the border crossing with Burma at the Singkhon Checkpoint (the narrowest part in Thailand) would be opened to trade and tourism.

Furthermore, Malaysian Airlines would soon start operating flights from Hua Hin Airport to Malaysia.

Who has more information about this?

Thanks in advance,

PFKleiss

A few weeks ago I was still at this border crossing. The Thai government claims that the business will open in the shortest possible time, but local entrepreneurs think it could take another year or two, because the Thai army is obstructive. If you want to indulge in the most exceptional orchids, you can make a beeline for little money at the adjacent market. The plants come from the Burmese jungle…

Some time ago you could read an article about this on Thaivisa.com. It was mentioned there that this border crossing would open for tourism in May of this year, and therefore also for visa runs. Never heard or seen anything else.

As for Hua Hin airport, according to our Thai friends there, they would be talking about it for so many years now. They are convinced that this will not be the case for the first 10 years, because of the king's stay. People fear too much crowds.

You can fly from Hua Hin to Malaysia with Berjaya Air. With a propeller plane. I just hope the planes are better than the website: https://www.berjaya-air.com/

May not have been clear, they meant long haul and domestic flights.
I regularly fly from Brussels to Amsterdam with one of those rattling boxes (propellers). Oh well, as long as you get where you need to be. And from Hua to Bangkok would be nice in 40 minutes instead of hours of trains, just a matter of variety

    I just came from there
The market there has become much larger within a few months, for me that is a sign.
At the moment, only Thais are allowed to cross the border by regular transport against payment of 100 THB for a visa, the transport costs 1500 THB per van.
The orchids have become much more expensive compared to last year, as has the furniture.
Nevertheless, it is certainly recommended for the tourist to visit it, situated between a beautiful mountain landscape.

115 km south of Hua hin via the Petchkasem road 1x turn right .
