Dissolve a Thai marriage in the Netherlands

Dear readers,

I got married in Thailand 6 years ago with a Thai, we went to the Netherlands for a few years and the Thai marriage is registered in NL with the municipality.

My wife went back to Thailand a year ago and deregistered from the municipality in NL. We then wanted a divorce, but she did not want to come to NL for this.

I went to Thailand now and we got divorced in Thailand, I had the translation + divorce document legalized. I also had these documents legalized at the Dutch embassy in Bangkok.

With these legalized documents I want to go to the municipality in NL (without her) and also dissolve the marriage there. Is this a simple operation on the computer at the municipality or does a civil-law notary still have to be present?

I must say when we registered our Thai marriage with the municipality in NL it was a simple click on the computer and we were married under Dutch law, 2 seconds I hope it can be done the other way around?

We are basically already divorced.

Regards,

Paul
