Dear readers,

We are planning to buy a house (possibly rent first) in Hua Hin. Can someone give me advice which neighborhoods in Hua Hin have the most pleasant living climate?

I understand that quite a few Dutch people have their residence there and that there is even a Dutch association in Hua Hin!

We don't have to lie on the beach all day, so a house somewhere in the Hills and possibly a lake seems attractive to us.

Purchase price from 350.000 Euro (rent from 1500 Euro per month)

I would like to hear from you.

Yours faithfully,

Piet

Beautiful place to stay but if you buy you will not resell the house quickly and certainly not at a profit. There really is so much for sale in Hua Hin, and many houses also look alike.

I would first rent in Hua Hin, if you really find something nice for a good price then you can make the consideration.

Have a look on the internet at :Arnold property . That is a Dutch broker and has plenty of offers or walk by the store on Petkasem Road on arrival in Huahin.

    pete,

you could take a look at the site below.

    https://www.huahinpropertylisting.com/

I would first rent for a year or 2-3 and make Dutch acquaintances on the spot.

They can inform you to what extent they like it and list all the pros and cons.

A long stay in Thailand and living there is different from a holiday of a few months.

I have several acquaintances who live permanently in Thailand.

Personally, I have chosen to only stay in Thailand during the winter months (November to March).

Find Khau Tau directly south of Hua Hin a very pleasant place. Beautiful nature and especially in the season relatively quiet. The area has developed very well in recent years. The four-lane road to the center of Hua Hin has been completed and is approximately a 10-minute drive away. The area itself has a number of fine restaurants and beautiful beaches. Renting is possible, but buying is also attractive at the moment. Relatively favorable rate of baht and a lot of supply due to the "corona" effect. Good luck.

Unfortunately, you do not write whether you have been traveling in Thailand for a long time, so that I personally would rent first.
For the money you have available, I would rather rent first and certainly not buy right away.
Personally, I would rather leave the money in the Netherlands, and give my eyes a living without any obligation, and then at most rent.
Buying real estate, in the hope that it will increase in value enormously, is completely different in Thailand than in the Netherlands.
Moreover, as a foreigner you can only buy the house, and the land on which the plot stands becomes, at the most by lease, etc., a temporary enjoyment of use, but never your property.

For that money you can buy a resort or a small palace. Do you want a house or a condo? You are very isolated in the hills. Khao Takiab could be interesting. Close to Hua Hin and yet quiet. And plenty of Dutch people there too.

    Well Pete,
I think this is your first time to Thailand?
For Th Bth 60.000= (€ 1500=) you can rent a small street in a residential area!
Adjust that amount downwards, invest your euros well in the Netherlands and enjoy a further life in Hua Hin.
But after half a year in Hua Hin, what do you pay attention not to stay in another province.
Well-furnished and equipped with air conditioning, can be rented throughout Thailand, at beautiful locations.
    € 350.000 = invested in box 3, must still yield approx € 10.000 = net.
    Welcome to Thailand

Dear Piet, finds the comment purchase price from 350.000 euros very special…
You may want a house and normally you mention a budget (around or a bandwidth) and usually in Baht.

From makes no sense just whether there are no nice houses for 100Keuro or whether you also want to pay a Million Euros.

The broker will mistake you for easy prey.

When you buy a house, you cannot own the land on which the house stands.

    Dear Pete,

In Hua Hin, a lot of houses have been for sale for a long time. This has driven the price down, good for you.

A website in Thailand that looks a lot like Funda is called http://www.fazwaz.com.
The advantage of that site is that there are quite a few houses for sale there with a 3D view. This gives you a good idea of the house because you can “walk” through it. With 5 million Baht you can already make a good deal. Furthermore, the site provides information about legal requirements regarding ownership, buying strategy and much more.
You can't do anything with the amount you mentioned in the Netherlands, but here it is a lot for a villa. Beware, there are also strange offers that are not in line with the market. FazWaz offers all kinds of support locally from brokers who can help you on site.

Nice that you want to live in Hua Hin. Do you play golf, tennis, and/or bridge? I assume you are retired.

    Regards Maxime

PS: I am not a broker.

    pete,

Hopefully there is no driving force with you to bring your money to Thailand.

Leave your money in the Netherlands and rent something.
Stay flexible so you can come and go as you please.

Also make sure that you meet the conditions for a long-term stay in Thailand and realize that your Dutch health insurance will expire after 8 months in Thailand.
