Thailand Pass applied for and then got corona

Dear readers,

We applied for the Thailand Pass and only received it today after 10 days. However, a few days after we applied for the TP, we got corona. We will only receive proof of recovery for this 11 days after we come out of isolation. So we applied for the Thailand Pass without proof of recovery.

On April 10, we arrive in Thailand and undergo the PCR test according to the Test&Go procedure. However, I read everywhere that there is a chance that you will test positive up to 8 weeks after the infection. Then you are not contagious.

What is Wisdom? What if one of us does test positive? Is showing the proof of repair sufficient? Who has the same experience?

We can request the TP again and fill in that we have proof of recovery. It will then be short notice, especially if it takes them another 10 days to issue the TP. BUT apart from that, if we request a new TP stating the proof of recovery, is that sufficient to NOT have to be quarantined in case of a positive PCR test from the Test&Go program? Who has the correct answer to that?

Who has also tested positive in Thailand with a recent proof of recovery. And then what happened?

Regards,

Frank R .

    Dear Frank

Same situation here. Arrive in Thailand next Sunday. Also just recovered from corona but on the 14th day in Thailand so no time for a proof of recovery. Thursday I have the PCR test before departure. I think that if it is negative, the chance that you suddenly test positive in Thailand is nil.

Good to know that you only received your Thailand pass after 10 (working days?). I applied for this on March 13 and no response yet.

It is my understanding that PRC tests with a higher threshold. Where the standard 30 is used in the Netherlands, this is 40 in Thailand. This may mean that you test positive earlier, also due to an old infection that is no longer contagious. In order not to be quarantined in the event of a positive result, proof of recovery is important. Whether the proof of recovery is accepted depends on the partner hospital of your hotel. I got this information from a Facebook site that helps people with the Thailandpas process. At the moment, slightly less than 1% is testing positive.

I am responding to my own question in the hope that it may help others. I also submitted the question to the Thai embassy and they answer me a few hours later.

The Thailand Pass must be reapplied for all of us. This is only possible after receipt of proof of recovery, as this must be enclosed.

But furthermore, a doctor's statement must be attached, issued at least 14 days before the date of arrival in Thailand, stating when the covid-19 infection occurred and in which the doctor declares that the person in question is now in good health.

The doctor's statement must be an official medical statement stating the full name, date of birth and passport number and country of issue of the person concerned.

I hope to help someone with this information!

    Dear Rick,

You run a high risk of a positive test. It could take 8 weeks or longer my doctor said today that your test shows positive even though you are not contagious. The tests are very sensitive.
You must indeed also be tested before departure (this is no longer necessary from 1 April), so you have 2x a chance of being positive. If the test before departure is positive, I would immediately do another test if I were you. So schedule 2 tests before departure in time. If the first is negative then cancel the second.

For the test in Thailand I advise you to use nasal spray (against a stuffy nose). It is said (I have only heard it said) that the spray prevents a positive result. Who knows.

If you really arrive next Sunday, I wouldn't tell anyone you've had Corona with a positive test. Because you should have applied for a new Thailand Pass.

    For Frank:

Unfortunately, the answer from the Thai embassy is not entirely correct. It's confusing stuff.

    1. You do not need to submit a recovery certificate for TP if you are fully vaccinated. Even if you have recently had covid.

    2. If you want to add a recovery certificate instead of dose 1 of your vaccination series, then the rules that describe them apply and you must enclose the recovery certificate.

    3. If you test positive in Thailand following a recent infection, you MUST have a certificate with you that also meets exactly the same rules, preferably together with a doctor's letter and an old positive PCR test. This is to evaluate the new positive result (is it dead cells from an old infection or a new infection?). This does NOT have to be included with the TP application and it is usually not possible because you have already received the TP QR. What Richard says is correct.

Not saying that you have already had corona is not smart, as is not bringing a recovery certificate. Then you will indeed enter a 10-day quarantine with a positive test on Day 1.

    Good luck.

The embassy really writes me (by personal email) to apply for a new TP. I have to add the recovery certificate and the doctor's statement (how I can do that I don't know yet because adding is very limited).
So I will apply for the new TP immediately as soon as I receive the proof of recovery.

The last page for confirm submission of application gives the possibility to upload other documents. PDF is also available there.

I totally understand that you want to be on the safe side. I think I would too if I were in your shoes.

For reassurance: We deal with this every day and every day I see people arriving who received the recovery certificate just before departure, long after they received the TP QR. Not too little today!

Unfortunately, we also often hear about incorrect and incomplete advice from authorities that should know (in this case the Embassy).

Good to know: Fortunately, a new application makes no difference to the previous TP. In any case, it remains valid, and it is also good to know that you can board with the first TP with confidence if the second requested TP does not arrive on time.

For clarification. The matters on which TP is checked for TP approval:

      step 1) By hotel:
      – SHA ++ hotel booking
      – ordered and paid T&G package (PCR test Day 1)

step 2) By DDC Ministry of health
      – valid vaccination (2 doses of the approved vaccines and interval; sometimes recovery certificate plus 1 vaccine)
      – approved insurance (20,000 USD coverage for medical expenses).

What the approval (the TP QR) gives you is a window of 72 hours (from the approved arrival time) in which you can enter, after which the TP does nothing for you. It no longer plays a role if you are positive on Day 1, for example. In the latter case you need the recovery certificate. And it also helps to bring a doctor's letter and also the first positive PCR result.

It might help if you better understand the process. Hence these details. In any case, you are doubly good.

      Kind regards. Henrietta.

    Dear Henrietta,

A doctor's letter is interesting, but what should it contain? That you tested positive, I think you have to go to a travel clinic for recovery. A doctor does not care about recovery.

  8. Frank R. says up

It must be in English and contain the following:
    doctor's name
    Your full name
    Your date of birth
    Your passport number
……….. had a Covid-19 infection on ……… and is fully recovered. I declare that ……. presently is in sound health.
……….. is vaccinated with … doses of ……, date of second vaccination: ……..
I declare the truthfulness and veracity of the statements above.

I'm afraid my GP won't cooperate with this, see reason.
    You're lucky Frank.

    http://www.lhv.nl/actueel/coronavirus/veelgestelde-vragen-coronavirus/
My patient asks for a health declaration/non-COVID declaration because of a trip abroad. Do I have to participate in this as a doctor?
It is not your job as a GP to draw up non_COVID statements, fit to fly or similar statements for patients because your patients want to travel, work, or any other reason. Travelers can turn to providers of travel vaccinations and laboratories to obtain the necessary tests and certificates.
General practitioners have no role in referral for these tests; patients can arrange this themselves. The associated costs are for the account of the patient/consumer.
