Dear readers,

Is it also possible to take out a subscription for your mobile phone in Thailand? And if so, with whom? And is the payment per month or otherwise?

my kind thanks,

Frits

Dtac has this option for foreigners. Payment is then made via credit card.
Monthly e-Bill, passport and credit card.
However, the only advantage is that you do not have to top up.
    Prices etc are the same.

From my experience it is possible to take out a subscription for a mobile phone. For 10 years I had an AIS subscription, now prepaid again, you must have a home address in Thailand.

I was unable to take out a subscription with AIS in Udon Thani. Not even with a home address, an annual visa or any other requirements. The policy is 'no subscriptions for falang'. I did my utmost, all the way to the head office, but no chance. Discussion not possible. That eternal smile. Great country Thailand, especially how they arranged everything.

Maybe the difference was that I had my pretty Thai girlfriend with me then, that sometimes helps in some cases. Now I have a Thai girlfriend again, but not as pretty, and can still arrange everything.
Indeed as a falang you are more or less in no man's land despite that "eternal smile" yes.
And it was then in Phuket, perhaps more used to falangs than in Udon.
But opening an account with banks or a credit card also varies, it really depends on the person sitting opposite you.

I have had a fixed mobile contract for about a year, including mobile internet. It is closed to AIS Chiang Mai.
The payment is per month and goes through automatic payment by bank (Bangkok Bank). But apparently that is not so easy everywhere.

Have had an AIS subscriber for 5 years, very satisfied.
    Khon Kaen closed. No problem.
Week in advance you will receive a text message when you have to pay your monthly amount, and where you can pay, and you will also receive it by email, including the bill.
Another reminder sms the day before.
IF you are abroad and/or can't pay on time, just call your assigned personal assistant (direct number, who greets you by name because of caller ID in the system) and ask if they can move the payment date 10 days. Never any problem.

    Success.

I have had a subscription in my wife's name with AIS for years. Pay 200 baht fixed per month for 200 calling minutes. If I use more, it costs 1,50 Bath per minute. I pay the bill monthly via internet banking at SCB bank.

You can also pay at the offices of AIS (every shopping center has one) or, for example, at every 7 eleven (costs a little extra).
