Home » Reader question » Reader question: How much does a taxi from Bangkok Airport to Sukhothai cost?
Good day,
I will arrive in BKK International on August 2nd. I have to go to Sukhothai. I have to wait more than 6 hours to continue flying.
A taxi ride to Sukhothai also takes about 6 hours. Can someone tell me where I can book a taxi in advance and what it would cost?
The taxi has the advantage that I see more of Thailand.
Thanks!!
Color
You can hardly book ahead - nor is there any need to. Ordinary taximeters are not that comfortable at all for such a long ride - and you have to wait and see what type of driver it is - racer or driver. Usually, however, they take you in the city taxi to some kind of "specialized" long-distance taxi/company and then take a commission as the informer.
There are no fixed prices for this kind of rides - calculate as a rough guideline at about 10/11 bt/km, rounded up to a nice number, will be something like 450/500 km. you can also fly-BKKair, so even from BKK, will cost less.
Do you see a lot? nah, barely. That part of Thailand is especially deadly boring, the passages of many towns and villages look the same everywhere.
People who make such a long journey almost all go to their wife/sweetie somewhere in the province. SO the pre-ordered solution is much better: on the spot, in that place, sweetie orders a car with driver, who will pick you up - almost the same to a slightly lower price. Then sweetie collects the commission (= 5-8%)
Take a look here if you really want to take a taxi.
Have no experience with the company but according to their rates it would cost 5000 Baht.

If I take a taxi to Surin (also about 6 hours in the taxi) from the airport, I always book it at the taxi center at the airport when I arrive. Usually the center asks
to some taxi drivers who want to take that ride, because there is always a driver who can also visit his family or friends in Surin or the surrounding area through that ride. For the ride I usually pay 4500 bath incl. It is a long ride but if you indicate where you want to stop at a 7-eleven, for example for a sanitary stop, then this will be met.
I would certainly not go with a taxi, but I would arrange a flight for the next day. and a day in a good hotel to recover from the jet lag seems more appropriate, a bit of swimming, eating and arriving rested in Sukothai the next day.
Greenwood travel also rents vans with a driver and is no more expensive than a taxi in terms of price
I think you better go flying, if you don't have a Thai/Thai with you to negotiate you will be ripped as farang, you can also go by bus that is very cheap
Hi Cor
I have been paying from Airport to Uttaradit 5500 Bath for two years.
The same taxi driver for 8 years. A gentleman and familiar has now become our friend. His call name is Jon 0817771384 Bangkok
Go back to Holland on July 19. Picks me up at home in Uttaradit (for years)
11 Aug he will be ready again at the airport to take me home.
There are still really good taxi drivers in Thailand.
Good luck Cor, gr John
I wouldn't take a taxi, when I go from Bangkok to Udon Thani I always take a VIP bus. Then you have more space than in an airplane. There are only 3 seats next to each other. And it's cheap. I still paid THB 1050 for 2 people in April.
Taxi costs about 3.500 baht. Agree fixed price.
You can also take a train to Phutsanulok from Bangkok. Lasts 6 hours including 2 hours delay. Train costs 450 bath including lunch. Or by plane Nokair from Don Muang to Phitsanulok. Costs when booking on the website in time between 1.100 and 1.600 baht. Flight approximately 1 hour. Tuk tuk to bus station 100 bath. Bus Phitsanulok to Sukhotha about 70 bath.
I pressed the wrong button and my reaction was – not finished and gone.
The bus from Phitsanulok to Sukhothai takes about two hours. All in all, to travel by train / plane via Phitsanulok to Sukhothai it will take you at least 8 to 10 hours.
Taxi from Bangkok to Sukhothai is the fastest and not much more expensive than the plane from Bangkok Airways to Sukhothai. So you will have to take waiting time for granted. Whatever you choose, it will always be an annoying last part of your journey, it takes a long time (at least 10 to 12 hours after you land in Bangkok) compared to the journey from Amsterdam to Bangkok. But it's no different. This is Thailand.
An alternative is to spend the night in Bangkok and continue to Sukhothai the next morning.
Speaking of transportation….
I want to go from airport to nakon sawan. Is there a direct bus connection here or do I have to go to BKK first? Costs for a one-way ticket?
Possibly with a taxi…..??
You are not rid of me yet ...... From Nakon Sawan I want to continue to Chiang Mai.
And….yes well…, I will fly back from there.
Who can tell me something useful about this?
Nakhon Sawan is located about 160 km south of Phitsanulok. To Phitsanulok by taxi from Suvarnabhumi it is 3.500 baht. So to Nakhom Sawan it will be close to 2.700 baht. Taxi driver has a standard list for long distances.
It is also possible to take the express train to Nakhon Sawan (travel time including delay about 4,5 hours. I usually depart from Don Mueang train station (I go there by taxi, total costs about 500 baht, see also below). The only problem is to get on the right train because of the delay of about 45 minutes Train costs less than 400 baht I never make reservations for the train but during public holidays or weekends the express train can be fully booked.
From Nakhon Sawan you can take the train to Chiang Mai. Costs about 550 baht. Only the time of boarding is possible 1,5 hours later than planned due to the delay on the Bangkok to Nakhon Sawan route.
You can fly from Chiang Mai to Bangkok with Nok Air. Regular promotional rate (currently for about 1.200 Baht), see their internet site. You will then arrive at Don Muang Airport. From there you can take a taxi to Suvarnabhumi Airport (taxi about 340 baht, toll road 120 baht and tip 50 baht).
From Don Muang to BKK there is a free bus and also from BKK back only the problem no one wants to help you ask for it and they don't want to know but my two friends
one speaks good thai and then they know the bus runs every 30 minutes but the
travel time is approximately 30 minutes but with the traffic jams this can sometimes be more than one
hours , there are also 2 city buses from one airport to another cost approx
30 bath but these bus stops are outside the airport and you have to go with all your luggage
busy lane over the free bus stops in the airport . My friends are 3 weeks ago
traveled with this free bus !
