Dear readers,

Does anyone know what is happening on the beach of Hua Hin and Khao Takiab? According to reports, almost everything has been demolished.

We and many of our friends have been coming there for years, most of them for a stay of 2 to 3 months. We wonder if we as hibernators can enjoy a bed, parasol, drinks and a snack in the coming season just like before?

With kind regards,

Mathilde

it is indeed true that almost everything has been demolished. Things will slowly return in the coming weeks, but certainly not as usual. For example, food will no longer be allowed to be sold on the beach, with the exception of hotels, restaurants and a few designated (concrete) areas. Sun loungers and parasols are no longer allowed right down to the sea, there must be sufficient walking space. Everyone must have a permit to rent or sell. Prices will be closely monitored. Claiming a beach is no longer possible, the beach is public! Hotels that said: this beach is ours, you are not allowed to come here, are prohibited. Now that all seems terrible, but these are simply the rules that have applied for many years, but "were no longer taken so closely". Now it is again (while it lasts)!

Thank you Ko for the information, we are curious to see you there next winter.
      Greetings Mathilde.

Buildings that do not have a permit will be demolished.

The tolerance policy, which was partly based on money under the table, is apparently no longer accepted.

Hi, I just came from there. Absolutely loved it on the beach.
A lot has been broken down, but I rented a bed with a parasol for little! Delicious eaten
    has only gotten better!

I also come from it a few hours ago ie Right of the Hilton.
They are now much less crowded with umbrellas as usual, strips about 7 meters wide up to the sea and a space of 2 meters in between so that there is now space between the different operators to go to the sea freely.
I noticed that it is a lot cleaner everywhere.
As Bert says, you can safely rent a bed and order delicious food.
    Didn't meet Bert.

Does anyone know this about Phuket,
and then kata Beach and Nai Yang beach?

And did they also rein in those cowboys with their horses? Or …. given a permanent place so that they do not take the whole beach to themselves?

    Dear Rina,
Two weeks ago we also went to Kata for a week at the beach.
We were shocked what we found because the beach was almost completely washed away by the sea.
Even for cots, which are normally 2 rows thick, there was no more room.
It looked desolate and I wonder how they want to fix this
    for the high season.
At Karon everything still looked normal, but this beach is perpendicular to that of Kata, so less affected by the Gulf Stream.

I also hope they have removed the horses from the stairs, we didn't think it was cool to step through the horse pee every day.
Then put them next to the stairs and make a box along the wall with a ribbon around it.
We also like that you now have room to walk along the front (sea side).
This year for the first time we will walk daily on the second stretch of beach (5 km per day) from Mykonos, (100 meters past Market Place) because this beach is much cleaner and has a better sand quality.
The beach bars there also looked cleaner and much neater.
