Dear readers,

Is there anyone who can tell me what it costs to have X-rays of my hands in hospital Thailand. I already have a partial WAO benefit for gout and osteoarthritis, but now I get deformities and lumps on my hands and crooked fingers.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Geert

Depends on what kind of hospital you go to.
But apart from that, what do you want to do once the pictures are taken?
Do you expect to be able to start treatment? then it is important to be able to find a good doctor.
And if you suspect that your disability is going up, they will not be satisfied with the results of a Thai doctor in the Netherlands.
In other words, is there any point in having photos taken here?
So think twice before spending money here

      Totally agree Nellie.
However, sometimes people want to know the status out of curiosity.
I did that myself with a chest x-ray. (after I quit smoking)
Immediately received a number of boxes of medication (while I had no complaints) with a full explanation from the specialist.
Total 820,- THB in a regional hospital.

I went to the “Medical Development Center” (so on the bill) in Bangkok on June 29, 17 because of a painful shoulder.
Photos had to be taken then and I paid the following:
    – 2 photos – 500 Baht
    – Outpatient service – 100 Baht
    – Doctor – 500 Baht

This just to give you an idea, but it will also depend on where you go of course.

Is that hospital located on the Wang Thonglan ?

      • RonnyLatPhrao says up

        My wife says no.
I'll look tomorrow for the correct address.

          thanks in advance

I do think it is on the Wang Thonglan. I know it's only a few miles from our address and I looked it up on Googke and it should indeed be there.

Like everything in TH and certainly when white noses turn up, further of course from the standard of the hospital. The cheapest are always the state hospitals, I estimate around 1000/2000bt, and increasing as the hospital is more luxurious. Every advantage has a disadvantage: a lower price also means less or no English and (much) longer waiting times. And every disadvantage has its advantage: in more luxurious places they will undoubtedly try to talk to you even more. But otherwise Nelly gives good advice above.

In a government hospital, costs are normally very low.
You do have to spend quite some time in the waiting room normally.
In any case, the visit to the doctor can not cost you the head.
And they can inform you further.

However, stay away from the private hospitals, where prices can go either way, just the way the wind blows.

@Nelly: If Geert is deregistered from the Netherlands, he will no longer have health insurance.
Moreover, he has to buy a ticket to the Netherlands to begin with.
It seems cheaper to go to the doctor in Thailand.

We are not Dutch but Belgians. And our health insurance fund will therefore continue in Europe.

      • lung addie says up

Nelly, what you write is correct as far as your health insurance fund in "Europe" continues. You spelled it very well: “in Europe”. However, costs incurred in Thailand are no longer reimbursed by the regular health insurance fund, certainly not if you are not staying in Thailand as a "tourist" and as a tourist it is best to take out special insurance on top of your regular health insurance fund if you don't want to be faced with any surprises . This is not new, has been the case for several years.
After all, it costs me nothing in Thailand, as a permanent resident, because I took out good insurance in Thailand.

Was here last week in Bangkok in private hospital paid for shots and injection for pain
injection in the shoulder and arm via a small catheter in the wrist and at the shoulder blade an injection is painful but yes it helped quite a bit for a few days cost me 7.800 baht together with painkillers
I'm lucky my sick box in Belgium pays almost everything back. Greetings

Costs strongly depend on which hospital. State hospital is cheap, but bad.
But what are you worried about? I assume you are insured? Especially with your medical background? It does not matter whether you have deregistered from the Netherlands, as an expat you can also take out insurance here or in NL. Costs money, but no more worries!

    • janbeute says up

Dear Alex I underwent surgery a while ago in a state hospital here in the city of Lamphun .
And I can't agree with you that a state hospital in Thailand has to be bad.
Less luxury and longer waiting times at the specialist at a state hospital.
But the treatment and the end result were good.
And that's what it's all about after all.

      Jan Beute.

    • Rob Er says up

      Why a state hospital bad?

Yes, there are long waiting times, but I myself have experienced that a doctor works in a state hospital and in a private hospital. Same doctor, same treatment, only a much higher price in a private hospital, but with shorter waiting times.

Of course highly dependent on how many shots they deem necessary.

But in my case for making 3 shots simple accident, incl. all additional services and advice in the RAM Hospital Khon Kaen total 750 bath

4 photos of my foot, including conversation with doctor and some 'medication' was 600 Thai baht.

In the Netherlands photo of my other foot, 230 euro healthcare costs!!!

  10. P de Jong says up

Several times I underwent an extensive medical examination at the Bankok Hospital in Hua Hin. incl. the Xrays never cost more than € 70,00 to € 100,00. Because I have additional health insurance, all costs are reimbursed by my health insurer. Look after! Consult the clauses in the insurance policy in advance.

  11. Martin says up

    Hi,

On average 500-1000 baht in a state hospital and double in an international hospital. However, costs for medicines and treatment that can follow from them are many times more expensive in an international hospital. Including the first consultation prior to the photos. Factor 5-10 I think so.

    Strength!
