Dear readers,

I also have a question about a THAI driver's license. I got my driver's license in Pattaya myself and had it renewed for 5 years after a year.

I now want to renew my driver's license in HUA HIN.
Does anyone in Hua Hin have experience with this? Where should I go and what should I bring? And should I go before or after the validity date?

Thanks in advance

Ruud

You can extend a Thai driving license throughout Thailand where driving licenses are issued. Can be done 1 month in advance and a whole year after that if it has expired, but you cannot drive because it has expired. Do not forget your doctor's statement, address verification from Immigration and passport. Passport photos are taken there with the computer and put on your driver's license. Mind that it can take a whole day, because all these centers are very busy, go very early in the morning. I was with my son in Rayong, for his motorcycle license and we were sent away unfinished business. We were there at 10 o'clock in the morning and that was already too late, could not be handled the same day.

I would add that from Hua Hin you can renew your driver's license in Pranburi or in Cha Am. In both places it is generally not as busy as described above.

You can have your driver's license renewed in Pranburi. You can get a doctor's certificate in a clinic. Cost 50 baht. In the hospital it costs 500 baht. You will also need confirmation of accommodation. You can get this at the immigration office in Hua Hin.
The Pranburi driver's license office can be found by turning right at the intersection near Tesco Pranburi. Better yet a U-turn and then immediately the first road to the left. This runs along the barracks and is perfectly straight. After about 500 meters you will see a purple sign on your left. That's the building where you need to be. Second floor. It will therefore cost about 500 baht including photos.

Ron, that is in the same office in Pranburi, for example. The necessary papers are also the same. For the rest, it goes as follows… register, make a brake test and 3d test and traffic light test. Then watch a few hours of video about traffic – lunch break and then briefing by a police officer. Then you come back the next day or by appointment and you get a practical test on a course and if you pass it, the theoretical test on a PC. You can find all this in more detail when you google it. The theoretical test has a few errors, where the correct answer is considered wrong. You can also find this on the internet.
