Reader question: Problems with Skype in Thailand
Dear readers,
Are there more people who have problems with Skype between Germany (live just across the border at Enschede) and Thailand?
I have been suffering from my microphone being lost in Thailand for a few weeks now, it also often happens that the image hangs and you have to log in again. Often occurs on May 18, for example 12x in a good hour and a half. That doesn't make anyone happy.
My girlfriend lives in Pak Chong.
Please see responses.
Yours faithfully,
Arie
Dear, I Skype two or three times a day from Belgium with my girlfriend in Ubon Ratchathani and occasionally communication breaks or freezes. Sometimes it resolves itself or Skype itself takes the necessary measures. Exceptionally, we are forced to call each other back via Skype.
In Thailand, Move offers a complete package (telephone, internet, TV, etc.).
Hello, I Skype 3 times a day with family in the Netherlands and a friend in Germany and everything from Udonthani, never experienced any problems. I do have a fixed PC, so no laptop.
SKYPE connections require a fairly fast connection. These depend on the weather in Thailand. In Thailand, a lot goes through 3BB or another provider that uses cell towers and no cable to the ein-user. Hassle-free SKYPEN requires a fast, trouble-free connection from both partners. Ask your partner about the weather conditions right away in the future. In the event of rain, thunderstorms, etc. or upcoming thunderstorms, you may experience connection difficulties. You can't fix it, but then you know where the error is.
Skype has lost its way for me for months now.
Experts say it must be their fault.
In contacts I have received complete strangers, while I cannot reach my acquaintances for the most part, stating that they do not want to give any information.
For me it indicates green while Skype indicates yellow for acquaintances.
Very difficult in business.
Using Skype for business?
Skype is not for that at all.
If you want full capacity with Skype you will have to pay.
Or did you think that you can use their full capacity “for free”?
Free does NOT exist!
In the vicinity of Ban Am-phur, a village between Pattaya and Sattahip, there are also often problems with skype. Freezing of image, loss of sound. and sometimes just no connection possible. Very often a message appears on the screen that the internet connection is very bad. And this has been the case for years. Because the internet speed is often too slow
Just reset our Skype again because it stopped working.
Still problems.
unfortunately.
Hi Arie, I live in Enschede and my wife has contact with the family in Udon Thani at least 3 times a week, but has no problems with always a good connection.
Rarely or never problems, in the past there was an illegal Windows 7 installed here in Thailand.
I have 3 BB the cheapest version .
And an original Windows 7 now on the laptop.
I get the updates there every week.
I have the latest update from Skype.
I also think it depends on the time when you Skype
I live in Nakhon Rachasima and have had several problems in the past with Skype to Belgium and between us in Thailand. The only solution was to keep deleting Skype and opening it again, then it's fine again for a few weeks and then it started again from scratch.
It is often due to the speed of the internet connection of both PCs, because now Skype is easy to receive. Call regularly to the Netherlands, also over the telephone, but no problems at all, with a minimum of 15 MB, a good image and sound.
Hello, to get in touch with my son in Thailand, I've only been using the app “LINE” lately! You can choose text, call, or videophone. Simply via your smartphone. Handy and can be used anywhere. Works great and is free!
My wife lives in Krathum Baen near Bangkok and I live in Holland since Skype was taken over by Microsoft
it's a useless program. Often no connection or disconnected, I call someone who is online, nothing happens at all, not even with the recipient. This only happens with people in Thailand and not eg in
New Zealand. I think Microsoft wants to punish Thailand for using pirated software.
I use Skype every day from Bangkok. In 95 percent of the cases it is a very good connection. Overall very satisfied with Skype. By the way, I have the free version.
