Private driver with his own van for a tour in Thailand?
Dear readers,
We want to make a tour through beautiful Thailand with our daughter's family. We are then with 4 adults and 2 children (13 and 9 years). The intention is to do this in 2023 with a private driver with his own van.
We want to start and visit Bangkok and on the tour a number of beautiful temples. We are thinking of a travel time of 14 to 18 days. It is nice to spend the last 3 to 5 days on a beautiful beach.
Hopefully you can advise us and or put us in touch with a private driver.
Regards,
Piet
Editors: Do you have a question for the readers of Thailandblog? Use it contact form..
I think you will be by far the cheapest with a car rental. Renting a van with driver for 14 to 18 days will cost a lot.
Contact Greenwood travel and arrange everything for you.

I can provide you with a number of a person who is likely to be able to accommodate you
A very friendly person, also speaks English and is very reliable
His name is Mr Ter telnr: +66861580349 can also be reached via LINE (app)
You could reach a 2nd person via +66971952228 (they have their own minibus)
Have a nice trip and frgr
Have used a private driver several times for different days departing from Bangkok. but always the same, for 4 years now. He works for company that does just this and also Thai business people or Thai tourists. All drive a large Toyota minibus, room for 7 people plus luggage.
You map out the route or the days needed for your trip, and they put a price on it.
Everything is negotiable.
If you want I can give you this person's details

Contact Rowaco Asia Travel in Chiang Mai.
Prices in Chiang Mai are generally lower than those in Bangkok.
Rowaco Asia Travel has been providing private chauffeured tours throughout Thailand for more than thirty years. With a timely reservation, a Berberland-speaking Thai driver is sometimes available.

Go to Greenwood Travel that the Dutch arrange everything for very well.
We have been to Vietnam and Cambodia with friends with Greenwood twice.
Have you already asked the question to your family? Usually they know or know someone who has a van. This way you help the local population the most and it is usually the cheapest. Usually a price is given for the car and driver and you pay for the refueling. That's how I've done it many times.
We did this a few years ago through Greenwood Travel, which also has an office in Bangkok.
Was perfectly taken care of with a driver / guide who knew the ropes (name Suphot). He spoke good and clear English and introduced us to Thai culture and customs. He was also well informed about special Wats(temples) and National Parks.
We were 4 adults and 1 child of 8 years. Along the way, Suphot always arranged something for the child
To eat whatever she liked, he even baked himself an omelette in the restaurant kitchen if necessary.
The bus in which we were transported was excellent with adjustable (almost to sleeping position) seats and the necessary space for possibly 2 or 3 more people.
We have traveled in East (Isaan), Central and North Thailand (ChangMai) and later after a few days stay there by sleeper train (which was also quite an experience) traveled back to Bangkok. After that, we enjoyed a few weeks of blissful idleness on the coast.
In short, this address Greenwood Travel Netherlands is recommended.
We had mapped out the trip ourselves, but you can also have them take care of this.
Good luck and have a nice stay in the land of smiles.
I live in Thailand. I can help you with a private driver
After more than 20 years of tour guide experience in Thailand [everything has been silent for 2 years] I now have enough time to provide you with all kinds of tips and advice!
I also have 1 or more minibuses with an experienced driver available at very reasonable prices. All tailor-made wishes.
Lots to see, do and experience. Everything in consultation. Renting a car yourself and seeing and doing a lot is quite tiring, while this comfort makes almost no difference in price.
Just email me.

Dear Pete,
I read that you want to make a tour with 2 "younger" children and five days of "rest" at the beach. Taking into account your arrival/departure day/beach days, you therefore have a possible round trip time of 7 to 11 days. It is normally smooth traffic everywhere in Thailand (except Bangkok) but a possible travel time of 4 to 5 hours per day with children is the maximum I think.
To give you a eg. I recently traveled from bangkok to south of thailand for 9 days and visited khao sok, samet nangshe, phang nga, krabi, railay, koh rok and phi phi islands).
Another (beach) route is to the other side of bangkok (6 hours drive) to Rayong, koh chang, koh kood and other islands there.
To travel to Isaan and/or Chiang mai by car in combination with a 5-day beach rest, your time is somewhat limited to "travel relaxed".
Many possibilities because Thailand is a beautiful country.
With children it is perhaps best to orientate on a beach holiday and you can find temples everywhere.
Here is an address of private transport (do check because many companies are no longer and / or partially operational again with the pandemic).
Driver is a reliable person and very flexible to your wishes (used 1x and also has good reviews on facebook montree911 taxi thailand).

Dear Pete,
as an experienced tour guide for ANWB / Fox Verre Reizen and organizer of private trips, I can help you put together an interesting travel program, tailored to your wishes and with the right balance in travel / sightseeing and relaxation. The travel itself (van, driver) is also in good hands with me. I look forward to an email.
