Dear readers,

I currently fly regularly with EVA Air to Bangkok. I haven't saved any air miles so far and I don't know how to save them? Has there ever been an article on Thailandblog about earning air miles? How much you get and what discounts
can you look forward to? Are there people who use this frequently?

No one in my area uses it and I wonder why not?

Yours faithfully,

Richard

Yes, there has been an article about it on Thailandblog, with quite a few reactions.

Save for an upgrade to a first class seat and always use it for the return flight

If you regularly fly with the same airline, it is very useful. You save miles and you can exchange them for gifts, plane tickets or an upgrade to business. If you fly to Thailand more than once a year, you will soon get a new one instead of a regular miles card. At Etihad it is then called a silver card and the next step is gold card. A higher card gives extra miles when you fly. You can bring extra luggage for free. You can go in the lounge. If you reach the highest, there is a very real chance that, although you bought an economy ticket, you can still fly for free business due to overbooking. Take a good look at which companies have the best mileage cards. Always fly with the same airline, even if the ticket is 1 or 50 euros more expensive. You take that back out. Someone who always flies with a different airline because they happen to have the cheapest ticket does not have to save miles.

Like you, I regularly fly to Thailand with EVA. I have a frequent flyer number. You can request this on the EVA website and you can use it to save air miles. The miles are added to the account for each single journey. The number differs per class. If you still have the tickets and boarding passes from recent times, they can still add miles at the EVA office in Amsterdam. It is important that the membership number is specified at the time of booking or indicated at check-in.
If enough miles have been saved, you can request an upgrade for the next class, for example from economy to elite. The number of miles required is stated on the special site within the EVA website. To get there, you must first apply for a frequent flyer pass. It's free, takes no effort and is enjoyable, so what's not to like. Moreover, if you fly with Thai, those miles can also be credited to the EVA account, but this must be stated when booking. You will spend approximately 25000 >> 35000 miles per upgrade.
I hope the information is sufficient. Kind regards Jan

For those Airmiles you must fly regularly with the same airline, or with a company from a group of companies that participate in the same airmiles.
If you fly regularly, you can save those miles for a free flight, for example (which is not completely free, but at least saves money).
Or for an upgrade to business class, for example.

You register via the company's website and after a while you will receive a card and the conditions.
Perhaps this will be done by email in the meantime, except for the card.
Sending a plastic card via email is a bit tricky.

When you book your flight, you also enter the details of your membership and when you board, have a check that the card number is in the system.
This prevents a lot of hassle later on, if something goes wrong.

If you fly regularly, it's well worth it, although miles have been subject to inflation in the past.
Otherwise, the miles will probably expire before you can redeem them.

Yes, Richard, travelers who fly frequently often earn miles. Can be used for a discount on purchases in the plane, reserving a seat, upgrades and, if you have saved enough, even free tickets. Unredeemed miles will expire after a certain period of time. Go to the airline's site, register online and check the site to see how many miles you receive for a route and how many you need for a promotion to be spent. You can also save miles with the card at selected hotels and car rental companies. Depending on your status, eg
'Gold member' you can also get access to the lounge at the airport of the relevant airline. Good luck!

For example, you can use it to pay for upgrades to business class or extra – free – tickets or… see the Eva Air website or the brochure that you can get at the airport, see https://eservice.evaair.com/flyeva/EVA/FFP/login.aspx

Because, when you have saved enough miles and would like to have an upgrade, for example, miraculously, such a thing is never available!

It's all on the Eva Air site

You have airline miles, which you receive for purchases at various shops and gas stations in the Netherlands. These can now be exchanged for a discount at Expedia when you book a ticket.

Then you have a savings program for miles that differ per company. When you sign up for this, you will receive points credited to your account, just like with airmails. You can exchange these points for an upgrade or other offers. It's free so I've been enjoying updates to biseness class for years.

How many miles you get depends on the class you book. You can spend it if you have saved a certain amount and it can be used for upgrade or even free tickets if you have enough. Airlines often have special offers. So check out their website to see what's possible.

I have been a member of the EVA AIR frequent flyer program for years and have always used the saved miles for so-called cabin upgrades, but you can also receive gifts and hotel vouchers for this, for example. In addition, depending on your membership card (Gr/Si/Go/Di), you will receive certain privileges at check-in and you can use VIP lounges. It is definitely worth it if you regularly travel to Thailand, for example. There is also an alliance, so you can also save with other companies and/or destinations. Everything about infinity program can be found here:

Did that for years. Also had gold card at the end. You can then go into the lounge... There's not much point because you usually hardly have time for it. I have had an upgrade to Business once in three years. You can carry a little more luggage... but someone who flies frequently never really has much luggage, I think.
Always flying with the same airline may be confidential, but it also gets a bit boring ... you always arrive at the same airport.
You can save your miles for free tickets…..but that is not free because you still have to pay taxes anyway and that is sometimes more than half the price. If you always go for the same size

If you have an overbooked flight, some airlines will give you a guaranteed seat if you have a certain status. If you fly economy, you have to go up and down a few times a year to get a lot of points. I experience it as a plus and have not experienced any complaints or disadvantages. I often get an upgrade when I fly economy when it is busy to the BC without giving up points or paying extra. That is my experience at Sia, Qatar and Emirates.

  16. French says up

The conditions for earning and using miles with EVA AIR have become more limited. For example, you will not receive any points for the cheapest class(es) Economy, for example V. If you have your ticket in this class, you can no longer book an upgrade.

Upgrading your Greencard to a Silvercard doesn't make much sense either, often no lounge access and no priority check-in.

    Regards,
    French
