My Thai girlfriend wants me to be listed in the blue book?

Dear readers,

My girlfriend would like me to be included in her booklet of the people who live at her address (the blue booklet with golden letters), because that is easy if I want to stay there longer, in the future.

I don't trust anything. What is the idea behind this and what else can I expect?

Regards,

bassie

The idea behind it is that your girlfriend loves you very much and hopes that you will live with her for a long time.

The booklet is called the thabiejen orbit (ทะเบียนบ้าน, thá-biejen-bâan). The address registration booklet. In English: thabian ban, house registrationbook.

The blue is for official residents of Thailand: people with Thai nationality or immigrants (permanent residence). The yellow is for temporary residents (most foreigners, they often only have temporary visas, a constantly extended holiday...).

As far as I know, the booklet does nothing more than officially confirm your address. This allows you to register vehicles or show the tax authorities that you live at that address. You can also request a pink pass from the municipality, which can be useful to get the Thai entrance fee: people from outside pay more for various things, but on presentation of a Thai driving license or such a pink pass, they want you to pay the much more often. charge cheaper Thai entrance fee.

If you are one of the many foreigners who are staying in Thailand without being an immigrant, you still have to report to immigration for 1 days, such a thabian job does not change that.

The above with a blow to the arm, I've never really looked into it. Do you want to know the seam of the stocking? For this purpose, the 1 and XNUMX previous topics about this booklet may be useful. Ronny has already provided links with further background information several times.

Short answer: Bassie your sweetheart apparently feels better about it, the changes are minimal for you. I would say, just do it if you have to go to the municipality for eea

Rest assured, listing is null and void. You can't do anything with it. The only thing that may be important for a driver's license or purchase of a car or motorcycle is a Residence Certificate which you can request from Immigration at any time if you need it. For the rest, a blue book or yellow book or any color is meaningless. The address registration of a foreigner is sufficient at the Immigration in your region, otherwise you can't do anything with it.

      Dear Ger and Ton.
First of all, being a non-Thai citizen cannot be credited to the blue house book.
And the yellow house book makes sense.
I have already been able to register vehicles in my name without having to obtain a resident certificate.
So you can easily transfer registered movable property to your name.
After translation and legalization, I was also able to use this book as evidence for the tax authorities in Heerlen.
This is the case with a tax settlement of a single premium policy.

Then go talk to your dear wife, because Jan can do that.
I have been living with my wife for over 10 years now and I have also been registered for 10 years via the blue booklet, but I also have the yellow booklet and the Thai Pink ID Card for foreigners. I now live elsewhere but am still registered at my parents-in-law's address, Immigration thinks that's okay.

Bassie it's nothing but it's nice and easy
“I would say just do it”
Your sweet lady just wants to help you.

        welcome to thailand

I have been registered with my Thai wife's daughter for 6 years. This was just for the Immigration Department. We have always left it that way because we sometimes move. This is known to Immigration but does not cause any problems. "If only I'm registered."

A foreigner cannot access the blue book, you have to request a yellow book for that, sometimes that is easy, but it took me three months to get it done.
It only indicates that you live there, can sometimes be easy but does not give any obligations.

A foreigner can enter the blue booklet Han and I had the yellow booklet at the municipality in a few hours.

sorry I checked, I am registered at the address of my parents-in-law and then I received the yellow book with that address.
So indeed you cannot be added to the blue house booklet as a non-Thai.

A person who does not have Thai nationality (diir birth or naturalization) can indeed get into the blue Thabiejen job if this person is an official immigrant (permanent residency). A non-immigrant, the residence status most foreigners opt for, can indeed only get into the yellow book.

I have the yellow book myself, even you can't do anything with it

True what Han says. Coincidentally, what a coincidence, I went to the Amphur with my wife this week to ask if I can also be registered in the blue house book, because we live in Thailand for half a year and in the Netherlands for half a year. That was not possible, but I could request a yellow book. But that involves quite a bit of formalities, documents and witnesses that have to come along. But we have an appointment for February 12, 2020, because the agenda was full earlier. Gives me time to think about whether I really want it and what exactly the consequences are, the advantages and/or disadvantages.

On spec with the marriage certificate to the Amphur, statement from my wife present and 10 minutes later outside with the yellow book. So apparently it is possible.

I went to the district office last month to get myself added to the blue book, but the official said I was getting a yellow book.
To my knowledge it is proof that I live at that address and I can use it when I go to land and transport to convert my Dutch driving license to Thai. Must be 2x because here they have a separate ticket for every driver's license.
They did not accept it at immigration, still had to arrive with photos for the house with number clearly visible in the living room and bedroom.
The booklet is free. The pink ID for foreigners obtained immediately afterwards cost 60 baht.

Maybe a side step. but the comment above about the Residence certificate if you want to purchase a motorcycle is very logical. I was also told that in the shop where I wanted to buy a motorcycle. Then go to the immigration in Jomtien, with OKM passport, visa, all required photocopies, statement from my landlord, etcetera.
There through the whole mill, until I finally got to the counter that had to issue the statement. There I was casually told that I first had to buy the motorcycle and go to immigration with proof of this.
This is completely incomprehensible in terms of order. You have to be a resident to be able to buy a motorcycle I think. If I have to buy the engine first and I really could, why should I go get another statement.
These kinds of deadlocks or catch22 situations are of course the order of the day in Thailand, but it remains amazing and irritating to say the least.

  8. Laksi says up

    Well,

    Same as Han and Ton,

A lot of work to get a yellow book pff, after that you can only put a motorcycle, car or plane in your name, otherwise it is of no use to you.

  9. Gerard says up

You cannot be included in the blue book.
A foreigner can only apply for a yellow book.
This yellow booklet can be used to register a car or motorcycle in your name.
Another way to get your car and/or motorcycle in your name is to use a statement from the Immigration Service.
You need the yellow booklet when you declare your income at the revenue office (tax authorities).
The yellow booklet contains, among other things, your TIN code (sofinr in NL) with which you are registered with the tax authorities as soon as you owe tax.
If there is any inaccuracy, I'd be happy to read the comments.

    Kind regards Gerard

Not entirely true that as a foreigner you are not allowed in the blue book.
If you have a permanent resident, you are allowed in the blue book ( tambien ban )

Bye everyone, I have a blue book and motorcycle in my name. RaRa

    • RonnyLatPhrao says up

Every address in Thailand has a blue book (Tabienbaan). That booklet proves that the address officially exists.

If someone comes to live at that address, he/she will be registered in that blue booklet as proof that he/she officially lives there. However, registering in the blue tabien lane is only for Thais or foreigners who have permanent resident status.
If you are not a 'Permanent Resident' as a foreigner, then there is the yellow tabien.
If you are registered as a foreigner, without Permanent Resident status, in that blue Tabien job, then that was an administrative error.
Many foreigners will therefore be in possession of 2 tabien jobs. A blue tabien job that does not contain their name (perhaps from their wife/girlfriend/boyfriend) and a yellow tabien job that does contain their name.

That engine has nothing to do with that blue address book (tabien job).
This is also possible with a Residence certificate or yellow Tabien course.

There is another advantage to the yellow tambie job, and that is if one wants to open a bank account.
I sometimes read on this blog and on Thaivisa that there are sometimes problems with some branches of Thai banks with a view to opening an account.
Just show your yellow book , see what happens .

    Jan Beute.

  13. janbeute says up

What you need to apply for the yellow tambie job is .

Your passport and proof of the type of residence, for example your retirement extension or marriage extension stamp.
Your passport must also be translated into Thai .
If legally married, a copy of your marriage certificates in the Netherlands or Belgium translated into Thai or the KorRor for a registered marriage in Thailand.
Copy of your Dutch or Belgian birth certificate also translated into Thai.
In addition, a copy of the blue Tambieenbaan booklet of the Thai national where you reside permanently must also be submitted.
You will then have a conversation with an Amphur employee about your past.
Questions such as what your profession was and what your parents did for work, etc.
The translations do not need to be legalized , incidentally .
I am currently working on my second Yellow book as I now live across the road in our new home.
And I'm still registered at our old address, house is still in our possession.
During the application for the second book 3 weeks ago at the Amphur in the city of Pasang, another error from the past occurred, which is the cause of my current 14 year old Yellow homebook.
My registration number started with an 8 had to be a 6 .
The 8 applies to people from the Doi, ie mountain people who also do not have a permanent residence status.
Farangs like me must have a 6 at the beginning of the number sequence .
As usual , the application process is slow with us in the Amphur of Pasang , but I am not concerned about this at all .
Official mills turn slowly here too .

Perseverance wins , also in Thailand .

    Jan Beute.

In my case, the translations had to be legalized. In addition, with the puu jai and two other witnesses who were questioned, the father of my girl and the death certificate of her mother.
When that was all done I was introduced to the monthly meeting of the muu track, I gave a speech there and there was a show of hands to vote whether I would be accepted.
Subsequently, this decision was posted in various places in the amphitheater for 30 days so that people could object.
A few more things, but I just want to say that every ampheu fills in that itself, with the 1 it is a piece of cake and with me they have pulled out all the stops to make it as difficult as possible.
