Dear readers,

Soon I will be traveling with Lufthansa from AMS to BKK via Munich and would like some information about this transfer. I see that all my flights land and depart in terminal 2. On the outward journey I have 4 hours, but back only 1 hour 25 minutes.

Who has recently made this switch and has information about how it works and what I should take into account? How long does the transfer take approximately, is it a long walk or not, are there long waiting times?

Thanks a lot for the help!

Regards,

Kees

Munich Airport is not very big. Your transfer time should not pose any problem, especially since you are already in the transfer zone itself.

No problem. We only had 30 minutes and everything went smoothly! Have a nice trip.

Dear Kees, I live in Munich and can assure you, because I often come to the airport, that your transfer will not be a problem at all.
Simply follow the directions “Anschlussflüge/Connecting flights” after leaving your flight from Amsterdam.
Your landing from Amsterdam and your onward flight to Bangkok both take place at the same terminal 2.
In that time you can almost crawl through the transition.555

No problem, everything is clustered per airline, so within the same terminal as you already are.
And they are Germans... they open a few extra customs or security gates
It's not Schiphol where you have to worry about things like that.. Lately I prefer to go from other places with a train, people get there in no time.

Last week I experienced the following…flown back with Thaiairway from Bangkok, flight left too late!!!so landed in Munich at 07.30 hr…normal return flight was at 08.00 hr to Brussels then all the normal hassle customs.passport control (you come here Europe in, hey) in other words flight turned out to be cancelled, with another three and a half waiting (11.30 hr) normal departure…flight also fifteen minutes late in Brussels (arrival with the storm so waiting in the plane for 25 minutes to get there to be allowed out (of course nobody's fault of course), found the control very rude and short. I personally don't want to go to Munich anymore, but that has to decide for itself

I have also been to Munich a few times, if you are unlucky your flight will be rebooked (back) and then you have to go to terminal 1 (with a train 4 minutes). If you don't know that, you're out of luck. Also if you want to eat and/or drink something (when waiting for 4 hours) you better get something at souvenir shops or something. At the restaurants you pay your green and yellow (1 sandwich, a coke and a cup of coffee € 17,50). So take a good look and/or inquire.
