Home » Reader question » Reader question: Where can I buy cheap designer clothes in Thailand?
Dear readers,
We go to Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Hua Hin. In which mall is real designer clothes cheap?
Where can I buy real silk?
Best regards,
Iris
Hi Iris, Designer clothing is very expensive in Thailand, this is due to import tax, I was recently at Siam Paragon, a Replay jeans costs approx. maybe the same as in NL.
gr.
For example, if you buy from MBK, you can get the tax back. State indicated in the store, but you must show it at the airport and then you will get the money back.
Christine,
I think MBK only has a few brands of a well-known brand la coste, arrow and levy
The prices are not lower than in the Netherlands.
You can get the VAT (VAT) back at the airport (there is an office at the rear check-in desk)
European brands are generally much higher in price than in the Netherlands.
If you want to buy real stuff such as clothing and electronics, it is often not really cheaper in Thailand.
Except some Apple stuff can be a bit cheaper but here in the EU you also get a 2 year warranty.
I think Apple (which I don't own) has a worldwide warranty. I prefer to buy a Sony, Samsung, etc camera or something here. With all that price stunt here often cheaper and 2 year warranty.
If you are looking for real silk and you can distinguish yourself in quality, you can make a cheaper choice in Thailand.
In my opinion, branded clothing is really something different from electronics. The question of where to buy designer clothing can be answered by the fact that all world brands are represented in Siam Paragon in Bangkok and the other major shopping malls, among others. Many global brands are also represented at Suvarnabhumi Airport. Tax is reclaimable in both Siam Paragon ea and Suvarnabhumi Airport.
Hi Ires,
Original brand clothing is indeed just as expensive or even more expensive than in the Netherlands, but you have shopping mall sales every month, so who knows, you might be lucky, silk is no problem, perhaps also recommended in the Chiang Mai area, you have various silk factories, nice to visit, and here you can also buy things.
Is it possible to write where you find the factories? And do they make men's or women's clothing there.
If you are in Chiang Mai, for example, this is a nice address, but you also have nice factories outside Chiang Mai, just ask at the hotel where you are staying.
Shinwatra Silk Factory/Chiangmai-Sankampang Rd | KM7, Sankampang, Chiang Mai Women's and men's clothing
The real brand clothing is cheaper than in the Netherlands. In the well-known department stores. There is also an outlet mall sales in Bangkok, they always have them. My husband also buys the well-known brands in the department stores.
I don't know Chiang Mai, but you can find this on the internet as well as Bangkok.
I don't think the designer clothes are cheaper than in the Netherlands, it is true that MBK generally sells many fake items, even in the shops, it is not for nothing that you can haggle here, but indeed on the ground floor there are usually sales of original brands, but that can also be seen in the price, and then you can sometimes get cheaper than in the Netherlands
I didn't mean the shops but Tokyuo itself what you buy there is not a fake. I know a lot about this and can really distinguish fake.
The brand clothing that is sold in Thailand, you better go to the good shopping malls, and not in a farang mall such as MBK, if you want to buy real brand clothing, it is best to go to Siam Paragon, K-Village, or Terminal 21 Especially brands like Lagosta/Piere Cardin, Puma are available in abundance and H&M is very popular in Thailand these days, but these clothes are also more expensive than in the Netherlands.
Forgot to mention on the ground floor of MBK Bangkok the department stores Tokyuo sell branded shoes such as Ecco and Dr. scholl sold much cheaper than in the Netherlands. As well as the well-known lingerie brands Triumph etc. and some designer brands and that is really cheaper than in the Netherlands.
Real designer clothes are much more expensive in Thailand than in the Netherlands, because of the tax.
Iris ,
Put that cheap of designer clothes out of your mind.
Silk is widely available in the Chang Mai region, but don't go to the so-called tourist shops, but find a shop with some local people where there are not many tourists and then you can buy a nice skirt or something like that for a reasonable price.
If you really love a branded piece of clothing that you own and that you wear all the time and you really want the same thing but not too expensive, take your piece of clothing to a good tailor here and have it completely recreated and perfect, cheap and real, I have experience with that myself, highly recommended.
Original designer clothing is much cheaper in Thailand than in Belgium or the Netherlands, for the simple reason that they are mostly made here. Maaf most tourists go looking for them in the typical tourist malls such as MBK and Siam Paragon (outrageously expensive)
If you are looking for brand clothes, go to Central Lad Prao, Future Park Rangsit or one of The Mall's or Centrals on the outskirts of the capital. Each of those shopping centers also has outlet shops
There is also a well-known outlet market behind the Thai Airways main building.
Most Bangkokians avoid an MBK because it is too expensive, they focus entirely on tourists and people from the province. They avoid the center anyway because it is too expensive due to the many tourists.
