Hello blog friends,

I've been living in Thailand for a while now and bought a car, it needs to be insured and I have no experience with that. Is there a blog friend who has already figured that out? Where can I take out insurance at the lowest possible cost?

Regards,

Sake

    Sake,
Just go to an insurance office near you. The costs of car insurance in Thailand are so low that you really shouldn't complain about this. This office usually also arranges your road tax. I've been driving around here myself for years and that's really the last thing I would worry about

It would only be a shame if you only start worrying about it after you have had a collision, after which it turns out that you still have to pay (considerably) yourself.
Coverage here is limited with each company. So make sure they are high enough.

For my now somewhat elderly Pajero, 4000 baht, all risk
My new Everest, 18.000 baht all risk
50% no claim discount but in Holland 75% which the Thai do not adopt

I myself have a great experience with AAinsurance in Hua Hin.
Finally an agency that doesn't always answer "yes" to questions they don't understand like many Thai people do, and no surprises because they speak Dutch.
They may also do road tax.
    Really recommended.

And to avoid unnecessary detective work: AA Hua Hin is http://www.verzekereninthailand.nl (see banner on this site). We only do road tax for customers in the Hua Hin region because the car book must be brought along for this.

I totally agree with Gerald. Good and honest advice (in Dutch), good accessibility, service-oriented attitude.
I transferred my car insurance with them last month. AXA insurance, same conditions as the Thai company I was insured with, except 5,000 Baht deductible. Saves me about 5,000 Baht per year in premium.

Totally agree, I've had my insurance with AA Insurance for years.

And if you do not understand the Thai polkis, you will receive an explanation in Dutch.
