Dear readers,

My Thai girlfriend is going back to Thailand in September after a 3 month visit. Since July 1, the government has required Thai citizens returning to Thailand to self-quarantine at their own expense. This used to be at the expense of the Thai government.

The returning Thais are now designated to book Thai hotels from the list of designated quarantine hotels. These hotels are, as far as I know, the same hotels designated for foreign visitors. Prices range from 27.000 Baht to infinity. It should be clear that these prices are too high for an impoverished Thai citizen (like my girlfriend).

My question is, are there no special Thai hotels for Thai citizens that the local Thais can go to for their 14 day quarantine time? Or will the Thai returning citizen get a price discount on the listed prices of the quarantine hotels?

It is clear that the price tag ends up differently with the foreign boyfriend. What happens if the foreign boyfriend cannot or does not want to pay for the quarantine?

Regards,

Henry

    Dear Henry,

As far as I know again, there are no special hotels for people with Thai nationality at a reduced rate.

What you could try is to have your girlfriend contact one or more hotels herself, in order to arrange a discount.

My other half also did this and managed to get a 25.000 baht discount on a total price of 190.000 baht (booking for 5 people).

My sentence is currently served here: https://bit.ly/3htoUah.

See they have discounted prices for Thai.
    Others will too.

As far as I know, people with Thai nationality now have to choose from the same ASQ hotels.
In line with Bert's response: many of these hotels offer a few thousand Baht discount for people with Thai nationality. I think this is related to the fact that the government pays for the 3 swab tests for them. Then the price of the package will of course make it cheaper.
I have seen hotels where the discount is 3000, but I also came across a hotel with a 5000 discount. And of course there are hotels that do not make exceptions for Thai and charge the normal price.

Have a look at this site: https://asq.wanderthai.com/
If a hotel offers a discount for a Thai, it will be indicated here..

    Dear Henry,

My girlfriend has been quarantined since today. Cost 25900 baht. Room looks neat, but no drinks and food are ready meals. The balcony is closed with gauze, so you really can't leave. All this is arranged by a company in Bangkok that also arranges visas and the like. Be there on time, because a lot of hotels were already fully booked. By the way, this was one of the cheaper hotels.

    Greetings Bass
