Dear readers,

My Thai girlfriend lives with me from November 6, 2018, complete with IND card, BSN number, so legally. We would like to get married next March.

We have translated (English) documents from all previous actions needed to bring her to the Netherlands and stamped by the embassy in Thailand. Can someone tell me which of these documents are required for getting married? And also what the age/youngness of these documents must be in order to still be able to use them?

Initially, they were of course used for the IND approval to be allowed to go to NL for 5 years and are dated between 1-1/2 and 2 years ago.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Hansest

Your ID plus her Thai passport and the IND pass (residence permit) should suffice. Assuming that the standard documents (birth certificate and unmarried status declaration) have already been presented to the municipality at immigration. Then the municipality already has a copy of the necessary documents. If the municipality does not have those documents or if you have a nagging official, they will ask you to provide fresh deeds (marriage, singleness) with translation and legalization of a maximum of 3-6 months old.

    See for example:

You will also have to sign a 'no marriage of convenience' statement. This procedure has replaced the former M46 marriage of convenience procedure (investigation via the municipality, the Aliens Police and the IND).

So the shortest answer is: go talk to your municipality and see if you like their answer. You should have set things in motion in no time (the municipality already has all the necessary information about you in their computer). Don't forget to start well in time (months), then you can also arrange matters such as a prenuptial agreement at the notary, etc.

We got married (almost) 16 years ago in Almere
For this she needed the following legalized documents
    Proof of birth
Proof of registration in Nakhon Sawan (Here that extract would be called GBA)
    Statement that she is single
    Thailand passport

If you have all the papers, you can get an immediate answer from the municipality. The civil registrar of the municipality can / may assess the papers and give permission to get married. In my case he made three copies of each sheet, one for the municipality and two for both parties. And I/now my wife got the original papers back.
