Dear readers,

Mid-November I plan to travel by bus from Bangkok to Phetchabun. Now I would like to rent a car there for a few days to explore the region.

I could not find a rental company on the internet, the nearest Rentalcar companies are in Phitsanulok. Does anyone know where I could get a rental car after arriving in Phetchabun?

Regards,

Karel

    Hello Karel,

I live in Phetchabun and have never come across a car rental company here but I must admit I haven't really looked into it yet, if I see one I will let you know.
It might be worth considering renting a car in Bangkok-Pattaya and driving it to Phetchabun, I think it will be easier to find a car with good insurance.

    Have a nice trip,

    Philippe

Thanks Philippe, so it will be difficult there. Phitsanulok is a better choice in my case. Or I should just rent a motor-bike.

Small chance to find a car rental company in a small town. If you are going by bus then why not go to Don Mueang airport instead and rent a car there. Then you are already on the road towards Saraburi and further north. This airport is not much further away from the bus station where you would otherwise take the bus to Phetchabun.

no rental car in Petchabun. i just came back from Petchabun and took a rental car at Phitsanulok Airport. An hour's flight to Phitsanulok and by car to Petchabun. great to do. good luck

Thanks, I think that's the best solution. Possibly I will take the bus to Phitsanulok, I will see something on the way.

Karel, although Phetchabun has an airport (code PHY) it seems that flights to or from can no longer be booked. So probably closed and therefore no car rental from this location. The nearest airport is Phitsanaluk and as you indicated yourself, you can rent a car there. Why not take the bus from Bangkok to Phitsanaluk and then drive your rental car to Phetchabun? The distance in terms of time is just over 2 hours. Moreover, a nice route with some sights. Safe journey.

Thanks, and great plan, is a bit more relaxed than driving from Bangkok. Have already experienced that once and it's fun, but not worth repeating as far as I'm concerned!
