Reader question: Poor BVN reception via WiFi at home

Dear readers,

I don't know what is wrong with my BVN reception. Only one day out of three or four do I have normal reception (Bangkok). The days that it goes wrong I do receive the signal but it is interrupted every 5 to 6 seconds for 20 seconds. Then I see a frozen image and a red circle starts to rotate until it starts moving again. Infinitely annoying.

I have reported my complaint to BVN, they answer me something about bugs and I had to delete the App and turn off the device for 10 minutes, then turn it on again and reinstall the App. All done several times but that doesn't change the disaster.

Then report that back to them (up to 2 times…) but they refuse to answer me. Very professional! Do any other readers of this blog have this before?

I'm surprised I never read anything about this. It cannot be a device. I did the test, started BVN with a tablet, a laptop and 2 smartphones at the same time and the problem occurred on all devices almost synchronously.
You could then say oh yes, but it depends on your internet provider or rooter. But why don't I have it for when I watch VRT, VTM, NOS, YouTube, Radio 1 etc.. etc..?

I am curious to read the comments of other followers of this blog about this or what it could be about.

Regards,

Roland

WiFi is always slower than the old-fashioned cable.
Maybe BVN compresses less than VRT, VTM, NOS, YouTube, Radio 1 etc? ?

And what about your internet speed? Think it's more with the ISP/provider than BVN itself?

Perhaps an upgrade of the internet package is an option to consider?

I regularly do speed tests and every time I get the message "very good".

BVN is not as important as it used to be, I think.
I haven't used BVN in years.
That has more or less spontaneously stopped due to insufficient information.

It is annoying to me that I can no longer receive BVN through my dish from PSI. I know that the Thaicom 5 satellite no longer works and has been replaced by the Asiasat 5, but the company PSI that installed the dish cannot provide further use of BVN via a satellite, according to the repairman in question. Very annoying. Does anyone know more about that?
Fortunately, I can view BVN via my computer and my WiFi connection, so the suffering is not that great.
Maybe it matters that I don't live in Bangkok but in Phitsanulok. By the way, I wish you the best of luck with all of this.

The dish can of course be directed to Asiasat, but if there are also Thai TV viewers, you will still need a second dish to view the PSI channels.
The problem may be that the repairman has no idea where Asiasat is located and therefore comes up with such an answer.
I also had to approach a number of companies that really didn't like this "monstrous job" for alignment and see the work mentality or else service mentality there. I can't feel sorry for those kinds of employees if they can't compete in the rat race.

    Dear Roland,

It may be that the app is not updated that often, so bugs are not solved.

Have you tried to just look outside the app in a browser - chrome, safari or firefox, I don't know from which device you are looking. The link is https://www.bvn.tv/bvnlive/.

    Good luck, Eddie

    Best ,
Had the same experience in Nonthaburi a month ago. Also on VRT. But went away after a while, after shutting down the iPad completely.
I'm afraid the problem will still occur.

Yes, I recognize this. I also have frequent data loading or crashes. I also tried whether reception via ethernet cable to the router would improve reception instead of WiFi, but that is not the case. Reception varies from day to day. Sometimes no glitches at all, other days nothing to look at. Speed is good, I checked that. Youtube doesn't cause any problems either.

For example, if you watch via the internet, you might as well watch the TV programs directly. You can watch most programs via VRT via missed, this also applies to NPO. If you install the app in Europe, you can also watch VTM for free.

I don't know which programs you watch on BVN, but you can find many programs on the site of the relevant broadcaster. Just search for NPO missed.
I don't know if the Belgian broadcasters on BVN also offer this.
