Dear readers,

At the end of this month I will be traveling around Isaan again for 2 weeks and Roi et is also on my list to do. However, when I look at the well-known hotel booking sites, there is hardly any hotel room to book. I have also approached hotels by telephone, but unfortunately no room was available on January 30. Is there a festival or something? I've googled it but no result.

I would also like the name and contact details of the hotel next to the Riverside restaurant. I don't mean The Pool hotel. It is only mentioned in Thai script on the property. Who can help me?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Arie

I would be surprised but it is not that common to make a reservation in the Isaan. I've done that in the past, but apart from very large chains, little is done with a reservation.
Often there is also the language problem. Not many people speak enough English in Isaan to really understand what you mean. There are also few or actually foreign tourists in Roi Et. Roi Et is not Paris or London.
I would be surprised that Thai people are going to reserve a room in Roi Et.
    I'd take a chance... you'll always find a room.

The Chinese New Year starts on January 25, 2020 and can last up to 2 weeks!

It is possible that fewer rooms are available as a result. But there is always something to find on site! Good luck!

Perhaps an extension of the Chinese New Year (Jan 25).

    Hi Fred,

I have the same with Booking.com and Agoda, I can't get a room, but go to google and look up the hotel directly with email address, or call or send an email.

    Good luck Henry

very easy. If you want to stay or sleep somewhere, go to Google maps and enter what to do in the area and then hotels. Then you get all hotels in and around the last from cheap to very expensive.
I've never experienced being unable to sleep. Done this year and in Korat a hotel with jacouzy
for 25 Euro per night with Thai breakfast. so you always find a hotel. Wish you a happy holiday

    Dear Ari,
I live in Ubon and I think there is always plenty of choice in hotel rooms.
But they are not always on Booking.com ect. So just pull through Ubon and you are guaranteed to find a place to stay.

If you mean the hotel behind the Riverside bar on the left, according to Google Maps that is: โรงแรมธารธารา (roongraem Thanathara :: Thanathara hotel). Phone number: 0885513019. Website not listed.
Search in your web browser: โรงแรมธารธารา เมืองร้อยเอ็ด (roongraem Thanathara, muang Roi et), and you will find their facebook page. Phone number: 043 035 124.

look through google maps and click on 'nearby' and select hotels:

    hotel name? What about? https://goo.gl/maps/9SNbRAeXPLxb86kN6

    Think this should be it.

This hotel is located on the mekong river with beautiful views.
Prices range from 500 to 1500 Bath
Located in Pak khat/ Bueng kan

In this small town that runs from Nongkhai around the top of the north east there are now many good ones
hotels in the price of 500 Bath.
These new hotels sometimes have two floors, modern and fully equipped.
In Pattaya you would pay 2000 Bath for a comparable room.

    Dear Ari,
I live in Roi Et myself and can assure you that there are plenty of rooms..
For a city like this with few tourists, it surprises me that there are so many large hotels..
I've never seen it busier than, some cars….

Also know Roi Et well. The problem is that there are major events in the city during Songkran, Loy Krathong and Chinese New Year. In the city center north and east of the lake there is a big festival and several streets are closed to create a large walking area. it is always full of a crowd of people during the said holidays and before and after. Sometimes the province or amphur also organizes parades. In short, this creates an attraction from far away, after all the province has more than 1,3 million people. Have been participating in Roi Et for several years and have also been visiting these parties in recent years. You will not find much about this on English-language sites, but you will find it on Thai sites and Facebook, etc. All in all, reason why reservations will be limited or are already full. The same in other places with public holidays or weekends such as Friday, Saturday and Sundays because these last days are the days for company outings, wedding parties and simply for those who go on a tourist visit after a working week. If you are in Roi Et, I would definitely visit this area because it is really nice and has a friendly atmosphere and especially the lake is highly recommended and I would definitely walk around there from about 5 o'clock in the afternoon (no sun radiation at this time)
