Dear readers,

We have been living in Thailand for a while but now want to delve a little more into the history and antiquities and that includes old temples. Which city is most interesting to visit, Ayutthaya or Sukhothai?

Greetings,

Louise

You live in Thailand. Why not visit both. Still enough time.
Both cities have their place in Thailand's history

Do both, but also the historical sites of Kamphaen Phet and Si Sathanalai, not far from Old Sukhothai,
This gives you a varied insight into various episodes of colorful Thai history.
Take a few days off. Hotels and resort now offer "discount" due to the lack of many farangs.

I am a Belgian who goes to Thailand a lot and I am very much involved with the culture of the country.

If I were you I would go to Ayutthaya, why do you stay there but discover new antiquities, 1 day is not enough for you, and in Sukhothai you have seen everything in 1 day and you have to pay nothing in Ayutthaya
    Have fun

    Hello Louise,
Go to both cities, because it's definitely worth it.
We have Thai friends in Sukhothai and we can recommend the following.
Go cycling with Jib and Mioaw from Sukhothai Bicycle Tour, because both know a huge amount about everything. Their website: sukhothaibicycletour.com.
We visit them every year and then stay at the Sawadee Sukhothai Resort, which we like every time. Their website: [email protected].
Have fun while you are there.
