Reader question: Internet connection filtered?
Dear readers,
I am now 3 months in Thailand for the 4rd winter in a row and have an internet connection here through TOT/Cat National Telecom Public Company Limited. 400Mb / 700 bht per month. This to everyone's satisfaction, good connections and fast. I can watch Netflix from NL and other TV channels via my Delta/TV APP. I can view my camera system in my home in NL.
until the day before yesterday... March 17, 2021
Suddenly I can no longer connect to various websites in NL and B and to the router in my home in NL. Not all websites are blocked, because I can still open the news sites. After puzzling for a while, I get back in touch with everything via VPN (via Belgium or Germany), but much slower (Max 50 mb).
I got the idea that there is suddenly filtering and blocking from Thailand.
It has been solved via VPN, but because this was never necessary, I find it strange that this has suddenly changed.
Has anyone else experienced something similar?
Regards,
Ferdinand
Editors: Do you have a question for the readers of Thailandblog? Use it contact form..
You must be at TOT. I had the same issue with 3BB saying I was having issues with the VPN and it's now resolved.
From what I read there is a problem without a VPN !
400mb per month, isn't that very little? Didn't you use that up so much with Netflix etc.?
400Mb is the speed and not the data consumption!
Sorry, I should have realized, but isn't that expressed in Mb/s?
Cornelius,
It is indeed 400Mb/s
but the bill says 400Mb
I think the problem is now solved.
that corr. further down
greeting
Ferdinand
Possible DNS problem.
Try the following command as administrator: \ipconfig.exe /flushdns
I get the answer:
Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache.
I have contact with my router in NL again
Thank you
Hello Albert,
Since 17/03 I also have problems with internet TOT - and e.g. the European banks - verification codes ...
I can also no longer send emails to certain contacts - they all come back as undelivered
Unknown address error 550-'SPF: 195.238.22.144 is not allowed to send mail from *****.be:\nPlease see http://www.open-spf.org/Why : Reason: mechanism'.
Can you explain a little more about DNS…. What - where should I enter your command?
and what do you mean as administrator .
With thanks
Hubert
Hubert,
do you have windows 10?
then press the windows key + X, then the old Windows menu will appear on the left.
Choose to execute…
Type CMD in the line and press enter
A black window appears with the prompt line
type the command Albert specified there: ipconfig.exe /flushdns
If all goes well, a message will appear: Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache.
and the problem should be solved.
success
Ferdinand
As administrator (owner of computer) you can enter all commands, in normal case sometimes not.
Start button, right mouse button click, see pull list command prompt (administrator) click
windows asks for permission, yes.
You will get a pop-up screen with a blinking line
ipconfig.exe /flushdns in the command prompt (under dash) and enter.
You can copy/paste the assignment from my story to the pop-up screen.
Windows executes command.
