Reader question: What is the best way to prune a pomelo tree?

Dear readers,

We have a pomelo tree in the garden, old and large, 4m in diameter and in height. Does bear a lot of fruit but nothing has ever been done about pruning. The fruits are edible but very sour and hard. There is a lot of dead wood in the tree, which I removed to prevent mold. The tree is in full sun near the house, so a bit sheltered from the wind.

I would like to get some tips on how best to prune the tree and whether the fruits can become a bit tastier as a result.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Glass

No doubt there will be some good advice from readers.

But the Facebook page (if you use Facebook of course) is otherwise also recommended.

He mentions “Thailand, where farangs garden” https://www.facebook.com/groups/252822315351944/?ref=group_header

      Really good FB page.
The Dutch and Belgians share their experiences and help each other with tips if something doesn't work out for someone.
      As it should actually

With a secateurs. Simply cut off the long shoots after harvest and flowering. Make sure you leave the healthy branches. Furthermore, look at each branch and try to cut next to a "spout" and keep it in shape.
What a good thing to smear wounds with ashes.
